Alternative use for Jet fuel
I happened to get access to 55 gals of jet fuel, not contaminated, that had to be removed from turbine helicopter (S-76). Does anyone know if this can safely be utilized as fuel for diesel engines without any other additives. I have a New Holland tractor with diesel engine and wondering if I can safely use instead of diesel fuel

We have used it from time to time in various vehicles. If you have a diesel I would put 10-20% Jet A in the tank of the tractor then fill it up with normal diesel.
Do you happen to know if they used Prist in the fuel system? Its a de-icing and "bug killer" used in jet aircraft? Not sure how that would work but feel that if you used it in small enough percentages in the tractor that it would be ok. I know of several people running Jet A in their cars from time to time with no problems... Joe A

I will check to see if any Prist has been added. I actually think that your recommendation of cutting on 1 : 5 ratio is the best thing and still allows for safe usage of the fuel, too bad I don't have a turbine Maule.

Widgeon, I used to fly a Soloy powered Cessna 206 and loved the plane. Would not stall with power and took off in less than 100 feet with a medium load and bit of wind. Nothing like a turboprop hung on a ex-piston plane to turn it into a monster! Joe
