Don't let these people freak you out, unless you have high fever and neck stiffness you should not have meningitis.

not true - I knew two kids in college and one guy last year that had it and none of them had a fever.

It would be worse to think it was nothing and it turns out to be something - of course you can't always think the sky is falling but when it comes to anything around the nogg'n, I say it is better to err on the side of caution.

Garage
I had an ear infection and migraine at the same time and the ER docs thought I had spinal meningitis because the signs/symptoms were similar. Don't mess with your ears, get a 2nd opinion and see an ear specialist!

I suppose I should shut up - being a kids doc.

Still, can only guess the generic name of the medicine and that it presumably is antibiotics. Probably from the group of Cephalosporin´s. If what you initially suffered from was an ear infection (otitis media) the medication usually works on the bacteria at hand. That would explain the initial improvement.

If the relapse mainly constitutes of dizziness / vertigo my guess is labyrintitis or affected balance nerve. A ruptured ear drum is not that bad - it used to be the treatment for ear infections before antibiotics came along. It does not SOUND like meningitis, but its impossible to rule out from just a verbal description.

This is just guess work from a NON ENT specialist, so either way have it rechecked. Preferably by an ENT spec.

I just set up an app for tomorow. labyrintitis is what she said the first time I went in. It's mostly gone now anyways. A little dizziness on and off is all.

Thanks to all for the replys and advice.
