Funny M3 story
A supplier of mine pulls up to my office tonight at about closing time to drop off some supplies. As we are chatting and walking out the door I notice his BMW. It is getting dark so I ask him which model is he driving. He says its a '94 M3.
Not being too familar with the bimmers, I ask him if he is sure its an M3. He says of course it is - bought it off ebay last year. I tell him that it sure doesn't look like an M but pull it in the garage and lets have a look at it. Its definitely not an M, has hail damage, the worst Earl Scheib paint job I have ever seen and is literally falling apart. I snoop around and notice the car is about 4 different colors - easy to see with the cheap paint chipping off the car and the fake fiberglas M panels are barely bolted on. I ran his VIN and its a '92 325is. At least its a 's'. He is now shocked that someone on ebay screwed him. Anyone have a current carfax account to see how bad it was wrecked or how many times it has been stolen and recovered? He says the title says 94 but it definitely is a 92. WBABF3316NEF35812

You have to ask the seller a ton of questions. If get a bunch of vague crap...."Its a great car!"....."This is a collectors dream!"....just move on. The guy I bought if from rambled on about what he had done to the car, he obviously loved it. I looked him up and he as a researcher at the Mayo clinic. Seemed to the have the means to maintain the car. Research, research, ask, ask, ask....and don't fall in love with a particular car. Be objective. It can take a year+ to find the right car. |

I read on a BMW site that the 's' meant sport suspension.
"Any model with an "s" suffix, like the 318is, 325es, and 325is, denotes the sport model which only came in two door form. It can be easily recognized by its front spoiler with integrated foglights, rear decklid spoiler, and 14" BBS cross-spoke "basketweave" rims. It also featured a limited slip differential (optional on the 318is) , bolstered sport seats, thicker swaybars, slightly stiffer shocks and front springs, and 3-spoke sport steering wheel (except '90 on, which used a leather-wrapped airbag wheel). The 325es and 325is came with an on board computer, power sunroof/mirrors/windows, central locking, and premium sound system standard as well" It has about 190,000 miles and luckily he only spent a few grand on it. Not a real bad screwing since the car runs and drives well but it was definitely misrepresented. Thanks for the help Wayne - I'm planning on finally getting back out to the garage today and put on some parts I bought from your fine company about 2 months ago.

The "s" Was A Coupe you are right but it also comes with an LSD and a lower gear. Mine came with a 3.55 instead of the traditional 3.28.
This guy didn't even get the heated seats.

I'm guessing that he probably knew it was not an '94 "M".

There're LOTS of fake M3's around. Check eBay for M3 badges or M3 emblems or M3 decals ......
