Time for a new family hauler, what would you choose?

I am in the same boat so this thread came at a good time. The lease on my wifes 02 Volvo S60 is up, and she feels that with the second baby on the way (due in May) the sedan is just not big enough.

Try finding an sedan that has plenty of leg room, AWD, and a deccent sized trunk. By plenty of leg room, I mean I am 6-4, and there is ZERO room behind me when I am driving in every sedan we looked at. I mean there was no way the A6 even came close to big enough, I liked the M35 AWD, but once again, too small.

My wife also commutes from Fort Collins to Cheyenne, almost 40 miles a way in what could be horrible road conditions (thats the need for the AWD). I don't care if she uses the AWD capabilities once a year, that one time where she gets home safe to Fort Collins, justifies me paying anything, I mean anything.

So bottom line, I have a huge GM peice of crap as a ton of people have said (a 2001 Tahoe with the 5.3 litre V-8). It has never let me down, never been to the shop except for oil changes, and tires, and it has over 60K on the clock. I have towed my dirt bike, my camper, my camper and my dirtbike behind my camper on a trailer and used it for dirty dogs, plywood, you name it. I really like that truck. It handles like a truck, but who cares, it is a truck. Two years ago, we got 37 inches of snow, I didn't work, but the Tahoe sure did, getting through unplowed roads easily (heh someone had to get the beer). It sits in front of the house unless its needed.

So bottom line, my wife really likes the Volvo XC90. Yes its an SUV, basically a jacked up station wagon, and yes I'll potentially have two SUVs (I drive a WRX almost 120 miles a day), but my wife will be happy, and safe, and to me thats all that really matters. Its just money, and that may be careless, but to be honest, I don't give a crap. My entire family will be in that car on a daily basis.

I vote for you to get whatever the heck you want, whatever will make you happy. My Aunt has an X5, I have been diapointed at how worn it looks on the inside. Now maybe she treats it like *****, I don't know.
