Insane Engine Porn pics !

ok, quick note for those who don't know - this is the European S50B32 motor from the European E36 M3. This motor never officially came into the US, it had 321 HP stock (versus US anemic 240 hp Motor) ... This particular engine was slightly worked on and was waiting for the Carbon Fiber Airbox and the specially tuned DME to go into my car. Now that I got everything together, Dr. Rui at Azevedo Motorsports is operating on the car as we speak.
We are expecting 380 HP from it.

Enough talkig for now, more pics to follow !

At the Tunner's shop (finishing work on the Head with new Schric Cams etc..)

This is how it looked when I got it

Professor at work (crazy wiring conversion from right hand drive harness) Notice how tight everything fits...

Motor in the car !

Carbon Fiber Box

In the operating room

New Rims, new bigger Brembo brakes, hydralic hand brake and some other very trick parts are to follow, stay tunned

Wish I could get one to work in a 944. That's ideal for it- it really should have come with a straight six from the start.

Looks like a straight six. I had a slant six in a '69 Dodge Dart once. I guess straight sixes seem to run o.k.

How are you fitting a fan?

Are you using a pusher from the other side of the radiator?

Its so much fun swapping engines. Good luck and more pics of the progress.

Well, the little 'straight six' in my e46 seems to run OK ... 4.8 sec 0-60 and 175MPH.

In all seriousness, this thing is absolutely awsome. I've been a big Beemer fan as long as I can remember. One has always been on my "someday" list but, alas, I only get one play car for now. When that goes up to two play cars, a hot-rod Beemer will probably be the one. I would love to see this one go; it has just got to be sheer lunacy... I love it.

m325ix, that looks like it's going to be a fun and fast car! (like it wasn't already )

Jeff, here's how you swing it: Your '72T will always be your "fun" car, or "project" car, whatever the case may be.

But, you need a daily driver, right? An E36 M3 works perfectly in that role, just don't tell anyone how much fun it is to drive .

Then, when it's time to go to the hardware store, you can rationalize having a truck, as well.

Pretty sneaky, eh?

I've never been able to figure out if your e30 is strictly a track car or street/track???

I'd love to find one of those engines for my '95 M3. I have a lead on a know-quantity S52 engine, but I don't have the time to do the swap right now.

my mate did this swap a while ago. he used the 6 speed box from a 5 series too. we had 165 from it with more to go. he had the rev limiter upped to 8500 too-it was mental. well stripped out too! we took it to a magazine shootout (performance bmw) he was blowing away m3 CSL's....

I have 6 speed close ration from the euro M3 GT. What do you mean you had 165? MPH? This thing should be good for at least 180MPH with the 4:10 rear

What issue of Performance BMW was that car in?

Wow, very nicely done. With the carbon fiber airbox that is one beautiful engine. Have you followed the guy on Bimmerforums swapping the S54 into his E30 M3? Of course you've already surpassed the S54's 333 HP stock output, and with a lot less work for the swap.
