Gotta love Randy Barret's philosophy. He refuses to sell his Barret "Lite 50" rifle, chambered in .50 BMG, to any California law enforcement agencies. He has made it clear that if citizens cannot own them, he will not sell them to the gubmint either. They are legal in all other states outside of California.

That's awesome. I think I will buy one of those guns someday, just to support him.

I love that Ronnie came up with a necked down cartridge that will be legal under Kalifornistan law and will still shoot as far, and probably flatter than the .50BMG.

didn't they come up with a .49 or something like that?
I have also recently read about a loophole in the CA assault weapons ban allowing you to buy an AR15 from one of the new builders (RRA, Stag, etc) and disable the gas system to make it a bolt action. When they close the loophole to keep people from getting the new guns you will be able to register your AR15 and have a full up brand new AR15 legally. I think that is how it goes but I'm not positive.

Oops... Did I get his first name wrong? Ronnie instead of Randy? Sorry about that.
Yes, Barret has come up with a California law special, the .416 Barret. It's a necked down 50 BMG case that uses any old .416 bullets, like you use in your .416 Rigby, Remington, Weatherby, whatever. Something like 250 grains of 4831 will launch a 400 grain bullet at somewhere close to 3500 fps. Yowsers... "Elephant" rifle caliber at "varmint" rifle velocities... be the first kid on your block...

All I hear is how many folks have had it with Kalifornia and are heading to more sane places. Does this mean the silly gun, tax and labor laws will change someday to lure folks back? I can't imagine hearing a politician saying "We need to get out gun laws back to how they used to be in order to attract new businesses to CA." I wish it were so, but I think you just have to give up your love of guns for the nice weather in CA.

No, because no one who cares will be there.

Sorry, I erased the original question after no replies and after having found the answer on the net. I was wondering when the law was passed about having to do all gun transfers through a dealer. It was 1991, Penal Code 12072 d.
