vandals should be lynched...
i just don't get vandals...
to be clear - i hate thiefs too but i at least understand their motivation ($$$'s) £1M JAGUARS WRECKED TEENAGE vandals have wrecked a £1million collection of 60 vintage Jaguar cars. They broke into a warehouse and played dodgems, smashing into each other. Owner James Hull, 45, was "devastated" when he saw the damaged cars in Newport, South Wales. Police said: "It was just mindless vandalism."

No... they need to have the living crap beat out of them, and then be left as crippled examples for future generations.
One of the biggest problems is the fact that there are no meaningful repercussions to a child's actions any more. When I was young, if I did something even remotely wrong, I had the potential to have the crap beat out of me. That is the ONLY THING that will run through a young punk's brain when they go to make that "should I or shouldn't I" decision... "will I suffer any physical pain out of this action?" They knowingly and openly scoff at any kind of possible result in today's society. We've become too complacent, and have lost sight of the fact that every now and then a kid needs to be smacked. Not abused, but smacked around, when deserved. For instance, you don't see them doing this at the local Hell's Angel's clubhouse, because they KNOW they'll never make it back alive. Some old fart with some old dusty cars in a warehouse? Fair game. Makes me sick. |

To further expound on this, case in point.
When I was *ahem* younger, I played a lot of rugby. We had a crappy field behind the local high school, but we spent 3-4 nights a week there for many years playing a game we love. We even had the support of the local businesses, as we were always helping out the community, etc. One construction company kindly donated an old Atco trailer (the kind of foreman's trailer you'd find on a construction site). This was to allow us to have on-site change rooms, etc., as well as to give us a place to store some of our bigger training aids. (Scrum machine, etc). Well, we show up one afternoon to find about 7 kids sitting on the sidelines, with a cop there taking notes. We then notice that the trailer had been smashed to hell... about $20,000 worth of damage. The lexan windows had been smashed out, the whole trailer had been pushed off of it's foundation, walls busted, etc. The cop did us a favour... he knew that not much would come of any legal thing he could do, so he intentionally held the kids there long enough, in the guise of "taking notes", for us to see who they were when we showed up for practice. The cop (who we knew) even asked them if they wanted to be charged with this and taken in, or do they want to hang around and wait for us to show up. They ALL said they wanted to be charged and taken in... away from us. Then we showed up. They were scared sh$tless. We knew most of the kids, and even had a few of them in our junior rugby league. Also turns out that one of the kids was the son of the owner of the company that actually donated the trailer. For the next couple of weeks, the 4 kids who were in our juniors league didn't show for practice or games, so a few of us made a visit to their parents. We basically told them that we expected them to be there, and yeah, we were pissed off and dissapointed over what they'd done, but we weren't going to kick them out of the league. If anything, that just showed that they REALLY needed it. Sure enough, they spent the next few months paying for damages, fixing stuff, and basically busting their asses in practice. They also seemed to take an inordinately large number of rough hits in practice, but I'm sure that was a pure coincidence. Last edited by jeffgrant; 03-07-2006 at 02:20 AM.. |

flayed, they should be flayed.
Or maybe that "hunting tool" that was posted a few days back should be used on them. hobbled maybe, possibly a mammogram done to their nads.

I have quoted this before and it seems to apply here as well. I think this sums it all up perfectly.

Jeff pretty much nailed it.
Remember that American punk who spray-painted all the cars in Singapore, and how upset people were that he was going to get his ass beat for it?

Thom - That case was big news in Oz as Singapore is a close neighbour of ours. I'd estimate about 99% of folk here were in support of him getting caned. If your is someone else's house then you play by their rules...

That's the problem with today's society, no true punishment. Kids are more likely to get a slap on the wrists then any real punishment for crime. Bad seeds in society need to be removed!

I was based in Singapore (hence the SINGpilot) when the vandal keyed the cars. This was a PITA American kid that had been in trouble with the Sing Police on several incidents before. They used 'kid gloves' on his prior acting out, because he was a foreigner, and the son of a low-level diplomat. His parents finally asked the police to treat him as an adult, as he would have been treated as a citizen of the Republic.
It was only the ACLU and the liberal press in the States that protested his punishment. The local Embassy and Consular staff (who knew the entire story) agreed with the local authorities. He got what he had coming, and was long overdue.

He shouldn't have to hide them in Ft. Knox either.vandal cure.. nothing a few missing digits or hands could cure...extreme..not in my book.Others would notice and think twice. Far east, I remember seeing all this gold hanging around for sale..nobody running by and snatching the stuff as they would here. They all knew market day meant more than sheep for sale.

I blame most of this stuff on the parents. If they were raising them right, they would act right. People are unwilling to take the time, or unable to figure out how to discipline their children.
