Listening to Rush 2112

Damn, I forgot how sweet this album is. Now I need to find Caress of Steel somewhere...

The radio sucks, I forgot I liked Rush because the radio never plays any of the good shizz.

Any other good recommendations for forgotten SWEET rock albums?

I've never put down the old Sabbath!

Was listening to Masters of Reality on the way to work earlier this week.

I barely remember Yes. Any recommendations?

The Yes Album - Starship Trooper

Speaking of whch, I've been listening to Yes' Close To The Edge pretty religiously the last few weeks. Amazing album...

worth the purchase for the title track alone

King Crimson's Red and also In The Court Of The Crimson King are excellent choices as well. Same drummer (Bill Bruford) in both cases

I saw Yes perform about three years ago at the Hollywood Bowl with the orchestra.. Awesome, yet no Rick Wakeman on keys..

Listen to Blind Faith too.

Never been a big Rush fan, but I popped Pink Floyd Meddle into the CD player and chilled out to some "Echoes" a couple of days ago...

...

Mark, did you move to Florida?

Rick Lee 03-09-2006 06:04 PM

2112 is absolutely amazing. I think I can still play every note of every song on it. My band used to do the whole long intro into Temples of Syrinx. Caress is probably the only album not on my iPod.

teenerted1 03-09-2006 06:11 PM

alright who's been listening to the tunes in both my cars?

2112 in the cd player in the Subaru, and the ipod in the teener was looping that all weekend. i just cant get enough of that album this week

Rick Lee 03-09-2006 06:12 PM

Don't forget Hemispheres. It puts 2112 to shame.

RickM 03-09-2006 06:18 PM

2112 is awesome...on my top ten list. Actually alot of Rush material is excellent.

...what can this device be?.....

campbellcj 03-09-2006 06:20 PM

FWIW there are a bunch (hundreds, I think) of Rush shows in lossless format out there in the trading circles...including some stellar Hemispheres era stuff.

Jims5543 03-09-2006 06:21 PM

Just heard them on Srius yesterday. They have a channal called Classic Vinyl. I also hear Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels the other day, couldn't believe my ears.

I jump from that to 70's to 80's to 1st Wave which is classic alternative from the 80's when bands like the Violent Femmes were breaking on to the scene.

rattlsnak 03-09-2006 07:16 PM

while i am a huge rush fan, and 2112 is awesome, its hard to beat Exit..Stage Left...

ironic, because i was listening to them today on the ipod also...

and you have GOT to check out this video of Neal on the YYZ song...

center of page,. YYZ animated video..

Chris-

Yeah, I moved to Florida. Might be the second best decision I ever made in my life. I read that you might be heading into Juvy's neck of the woods at some point. Let me know if you do, I want to drive up and see the car!
