Dang traffic here in SoCal sucks BIG TIME!
Made it into Panorama City by 5PM but it took another 2.25 hrs to get to Fountain Valley. No accidents, just too many freaking cars. How do you guys drive your P-cars in this mess? Mine would overheat for sure even if it is only 65 degrees outside.

LOL, welcome to our nightmare!
I was born and raised here, so I have an excuse, but why anybody would knowingly want to move to metro L.A., I dunno... half an hour to go 5-10 miles is pretty common stuff in West LA.

Speaking of motorcycles, you've got to have balls of steel to split lanes during the evening rush hour. When I hear a bike coming, I give them room but I think I'm in the minority in that.

A couple of Fridays ago... St. Patrick's day... I left Willow Springs in my pickup with the bike in the back at 3:00 PM. Got home at 8:30 PM. 5 and a half hours to go 135 miles. Was low on diesel somewhere around Redondo, so got off the freeway and headed towards the beach. Was stuck in surface gridlock for an hour and a half on fumes trying to find diesel. I was one pissed off SOB. Never, ever again will I put myself through that hell. Will be heading to Willow under the cover of darkness from now on. I don't know how you Angelinos do it... it would drive me crazy. One reason why I refuse to venture north of the El Toro Y

Both my cars have manuals and the one thing I learned quickly after buying the second one is traffic sucks down here. So the next investment was a GPS and whenever I encounter traffic, I learned to find an alternative route. However, sometimes you can't win and you just end up finding a restaurant and grab something to eat assuming the area is somewhat decent.

Richard, ya got that right!
Living right at the LA/Ventura county border, it takes a major commitment to head toward the dark side during commuting hours. Fortunately, I don't need to do it too often. Looking at the equal amount of traffic in both directions, I always wonder why people don't move or change jobs to avoid that mess. My daughter works and lives downtown and takes the elevator to work

Richard, I ride my bike to Willow for 2 wheel track days. Problem solved
![]() On track days, I have driven my 911 back from Willow. Usually leave around 4pm. I'm in west LA by 6pm at the latest. It is the run from here south that gets you. |

I used to do the 45miles one way on the 101-134 from Thousand Oaks to Glendale every day.....what a joke!
I found a job out here with a 10 mile, 15 minute commute....life is better!

I used to commute from 1000 Oaks to Pelican (El Segundo) 60 miles every day.
If I left at 6AM, would take me 45mins. if I left at 8AM would take me 2 1/2 hours. Leaving at 5 would take me 2 1.2 hours without fail to get home. And this is taking Sepulveda to Hayvenhurst to the 101. |

If they actually built a train that went north/south along the 405 (seems the most logical place to put it) I would have easily taken it.

I don't see what's wrong with an elevated-monorail that goes long-distance. Maybe from the West Valley, stops in Downtown LA, and then one more stop in the OC.

COnsidering that the Wilshire/Sepulveda intersection is one of the heaviest travelled intersections in the world, seems that is where the Metro should go.
