Cell Phone spying, can "They" do this?

I was just wondering if "They" can listen in through your phone like a hidden mic at any time without detection.
We know they can listen to the calls.

Of course, all the phones have convienient cameras, too.
Can "They" look too?

I'm not worried, just wondering.

Would that bother you?
Would you experience an upset around that?

Ever hear a weird popping sound from your speakers when your cell phone is too close to them? That's your phone transmitting. The coded bursts for some reason are in the audible spectrum, and your speakers pick it up. Wanna know if your phone is transmitting? Set it next to your speakers!

We at times forget to turn the cell phones off in the cockpit. We can hear the tone and popping in the cockpit speakers and headsets when a call is coming in...

BTW, it does not disrupt our communication or navigation in the plane. It does keep the airlines from making as much money on calls... That said, last thing I want is a free for all in the cabin with everyone being able to jabber away for hours on their cell phone sitting next to someone who needs or wants to work or sleep.

Yeah, If I knew my phone was being used as a secret listening device I would be upset.

The public would be in an outrage.

The only way to turn your phone completely off is to pull the battery.

Working in a 100% mobile phone free workspace is _so_ nice...

I thought about that with the battery.

You turn the phone "off" and "They" are still listening.

I read that when "off" the gps is still active. The same article said to pull battery for privacy of location if they are tiring to track you.
