Annexing Mexico
This was brought up on another thread and I thought it deserved its own thread:
What are the pluses/minuses of annexing Mexico?? Minuses: Vast poverty Infrastructure that is decades behind us Economy in the toilet Rampant corruption among the police and government Language barrier 3rd world health care Pluses: OIL!!! Lots of cheap labor Smaller border to defend Tequila! We could start making the original VW Bugs again...love those things. Our soccer team would be an instant World Cup Contender CABO WABO!!! Mandatory Siestas during the work day I saw we nab em while we can!

Canada, too. Good fishing and hunting. And, it won't be too bad to live up there, what, with global warming and all.

The Mexicanization of America is obvious to anyone. That's why I say we just bite the bullet now and annex them. I bet you could get the vote past the Mexican people...think about it, everyone is suddenly a legal US citizen! It would pass in a landslide.
It might be tough sledding for 30 or 40 years while we get their infrastructure, standard of living, etc up to snuff, but I am beginnng to think that we either absorb them slowly (as we are doing now) or take the pain and get it over with. Plus we could put another few professional sports teams down there...

Yeah, I can see it now, the Aguascalientes Angelos. Maybe we can send them Wayne Gretsky.

The biggest issue, would be dealing the Mexican "police", and the vast amount of dishonesty down there. My Uncle was VP of a Pepsi plant in Mexico for many years, everyone lied to make things sound good. He spent years just teaching his employees to tell him the truth.

Ever wonder why they don't they change their national language to English. I mean Spanish is the language of the conquistadors that slaughtered the native people their right? And it would make working here so much easier.

Just wait, Mexico is already annexing America. When the tax base has left California, the eastern states will start asking for border security along the Colorado River.

We haven't invaded them for almost 100 years. We are beyond due.
