Delay is in a district that I think is one of the most expensive in the country. His democratic challenger had more money on hand as of last reports than DeLay. Quite extraordinary.
Maybe he dropped out to funnel whatever money he has left to his legal defense fund. He's gonna need a lot of bucks there. |
He is allowed to use campaign funds for legal defense. But in the unlikely event his coffers run dry, he'd have no problem starting a separate legal defense fund and filling it up easily, as Lewis Libby has done.
|
Delay's got a fund now. Has had one for quite some time.
You can't go up against the House Ethics Committee multiple times lawyerless, for god's sake! He even got censured by his own House, didn't he? And of course that pesky indictment down in Texas that is so bogus that the judge refused to throw out. He must be a "lefty." |

With all the perks given to former members of Congress, I cannot in any way feel the least bit sorry for him. We should all have such retirement programs.

Let me "susplain it to you"... There are just as many crooks and shady people in the Democrook party as there is in the Repubs! Explain Sandy Bergers theft of classified materials (if you can) from a secure govt facility, then being given a slap on the wrist. They all are dirty, lets get rid of all of them and start over. Two term limit and then you are out of govt, period. These jerks who make it their lifes calling (with the massive retirement that we do not get BTW) need to get thrown out. Understand it now? |
Don't forget this one.
Six Hill Aides Subpoenaed In Jefferson Investigation Associated Press Friday, March 31, 2006; A12 A U.S. District Court has issued grand jury subpoenas to six aides to Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-La.) who has been implicated in a bribery case. In statements read on the House floor yesterday, the aides notified House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) that they had been served with subpoenas for testimony issued by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. The court, located in Alexandria, Va., is set to hand down a sentence to Brett Pfeffer, a former aide to Jefferson. Pfeffer pleaded guilty in January to aiding and abetting bribery of a public official and conspiracy. He faces as much as 20 years in prison. Pfeffer, 37, said a congressman demanded bribes in exchange for his assistance in brokering two African telecommunications deals. Court documents make clear that Jefferson is the accused congressman without naming him. Jefferson has not been charged with a crime and has denied the allegation, saying he has never demanded or accepted anything to perform a service for which he was elected. The six staff members -- a district manager, a legislative assistant and four congressional aides -- said in their statements that they had consulted with the Office of General Counsel and determined that compliance with the subpoena "is consistent with the precedents and privileges of the House." |

On April 7, the committee requested approval from the Justice Department to speak to Chung regarding his illegal fund raising and his links to Chinese military intelligence. The Justice Department has approved this request and has placed no limitations on his testimony.

How about that Boss Tweed guy? Man, was he corrupt! (what were we talking about again?)
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1144183137.jpg |
And who can forget President Ulysses S. Grant? That dude was corrupt and incompetent!
The more I think about it, the more I realize that Delay abusing his office for personal gain is no biggie. Not with Boss Tweed and Grant and Sandy Berger to think about  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1144183438.jpg |
One down. Five hundred and thirty four left to go, IMO.

Right after I convince you that Saddam did not in fact have an arsenal of WMDs ready to fire at the United States. Let me know when you are finally over the WMD thing that every rational human being on earth now rejects, then we will move on to the sleaze of Tom DeLay. Baby steps, daddy, baby steps. |

The worst that can be said about DeLay enriching himself through his office is his raising money for his foster kids foundation. Obviously, his being who he is attracted lobbyists or others, who donated to the charity to curry favor with or have access to him. But I doubt any of it ended up in DeLay's personal pockets.
|
I guess you don't know about his wife's "salary" then. The salary paid for by Russian oil and gas interests.
|
As far as I know there are no claims of such. Rodeo is just like an old woman having to exaggerate every story to lend it some "pop"

Well, if you don't know about the Russian $1 Million, and I refuse to educate you about it, it must not exist! Must be nice to live in your world, so certain. All you have to do is close your eyes. |
Rodeo, I know DeLay's wife made a tiny fraction of what Daschle's wife made as an aviation lobbyist on legislation her hubby had a lot of influence on. And it's well known around here that DeLay is not high-living fat cat and has adopted 5 or 6 foster kids. If he was in it for the money, he would have quit a long time ago.
|
The federal prosecutors, the Bush administration federal prosecutors, have described DeLay's office as a criminal enterprise. The man's office was a criminal enterprise, and yet you persist in defending him. Unbelievable.
Last I heard, flying to Scotland on a private jet for a round at St. Andrews is indeed "high living." What planet do you live on? |

Truth is (of course) much different than our little friend would lead you to believe. A Russian firm donated 1 million to charity that DeLays wife was involved and was paid a massive $36,000 a year for her administrative job. For three whole years. SO there you go, DeLAy went to Russia and set up an elaborate plan to get Russian oil money routed to a charity that his wife could bilk for poverty level wages. You sure can smoke em out Rodeo! |

What's even more stupid is you wouldn't have even posted this if Rush's or some other apologist media slug hadn't dug it up today to make you feel all good about your felon buddy Delay. |

Wrong again daddy. But at least you acknowledge that Delay's wife was paid with Russian money strong-armed by Abramoff for DeLay's fake "charity."
That you see nothing wrong with the Republican Majority Leader's wife being paid by foreign interests is just mind boggling. |

I just gave you the basic info daddy. Want more? Look it up.
Maybe you can get some Russian oil companies to pay you for your time. |
Well, after wading through some nice "hate-DeLay" sites I find nothing else even claimed about his wife. The only difference was that she worked for a lobbying firm not the charity. So feel free to enlighten me...oh and the anti-DeLay websites as to this dirt you have on his wife.
|
Let's see ... I suggest that you "look it up" at 10:16, and you report back at 10:19 that you looked but could find nothing more.
Quite a work ethic you have there. |
