International Submarine Race

No kidding, remember when you could take a girl down to the park by the river to watch the submarine races? Well you could take a girl down to the river park, right? Now it would not be a joke or an excuse to be alone.

BETHESDA, MD. December 16, 2005 -The 9th biennial International Submarine Races, an engineering design competition, will be held June 25 - 30, 2007, according to the Foundation for Undersea Research and Education, organizer of the event.

One and two-person teams from high schools, colleges and universities, private groups and individuals are invited to participate in the contest. The ISR has been in existence since 1989, and has been conducted at the U.S. Navy's Carderock test tank since 1995. The host of the event is the Naval Surface Warfare Center's Carderock Division David Taylor Model Basin in Bethesda, Maryland. .

This will be the sixth staging of the competition in the 3,200-foot-long David Taylor test tank at NSWC

I guess it depends on the lighting and seating angles they have on the tank.

If it were not in the tank, I'm sure there would be more danger and less appeal. Not a future sporting event in most waters to be sure.
