Try the Reverend Horton Heat. They're psychobilly/swing/punk and focus on cars/chicks/booze/cars/drugs. Very fast. Very fun.

If you live in the middle of nowhere, driving hundreds of miles at a time alone, something wierd and mellow like Beth Orton or the Gibbons chick from Portishead can be nice, too.

I drove XC a few years back with Johnny Cash and Dylan box sets. That worked...

Really weird stuff. Can you imagine sticking a needle in a groove of a disc of slowly spinning vinyl, and sounds then emerge from a speaker??? A single speaker??? This is back when you'd actually "dial" a telephone. :eek:
