Better not stay in any hotel rooms. You know who cleans them. Own an RV?

Gentlemen,
You want to talk legal. Let's talk legal.
Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and large parts of California were taken from Mexico by force.
Invasion and War.
So now that we are in charge, All Mexicans are illegal?
Kinda of like saying any, Navajo or Hopi or Comanche found off the reservation is illegal.
I suppose when the Federal government said "come to America" in the 1800's that's OK.
We must be full now.
So no more foreigner's, unless it is your family.
Who is the bureaucrat that decides who is legal?
I'm afraid your racism is showing.
Was it illegal to bring slaves from Africa?
How about all the Chinese that built the railroads?
I'm amazed at all the folks that have conveniently forgotten their own heritage.

Texas,
[/QUOTE}

No, Texas, at least, separated from Mexico the same way the 13 colonies separated from Britain and became sovereign states.

Further, spanish speaking indians from south of what is now the US/Mexican border have no more rights with those states than any white man did, only those living with those lands had the right of decision of self government. What's happening there now is nothing short of a foreign invasion and should be treated as such.

2.7RACER 04-28-2006 09:40 AM

Pat,
So I guess the Alamo and the battles fought later were just some kind of "separation"

craigster59 04-28-2006 09:42 AM

I think I'd have a tough time getting back into Norway after 150 years.

I think people have lost sight of the fact that this is about I-L-L-E-G-A-L aliens. The folks that are here legally as a result of going through the process of getting a visa, getting a green card and getting citizenship I have no issue with. They're Americans just like me and just happen to have been born someplace else. Fine and dandy. They showed respect for our culture and country by having the decency to do what was expected of them and demonstrating through their compliance with our laws, immigration policies, etc. that they really wanted to be here. Good stuff.

I admit freely that our immigration system is a mess but honestly the ability of a LEGAL immigrant to put up with the morass of red tape is only a testimony to how badly they want to do things by-the-book, how much they want to be an American and how respectful they are being of the country they are hoping to have accept them. I have all the respect in the world for these people and welcome them with open arms regardless of their nationality.

The ones that jump fences or swim rivers in the dead of night to come here and steal from us and send our dollars back to a corrupt third-world country are criminals and scum. These individuals are THIEVES and should be treated accordingly.

If LEGAL Latino CITIZENS (having obtained their citizenship by going through the proper channels) want to protest or make an appeal to raise the immigration quotas to help other people in their homelands become citizens in the U.S. too, that's one thing. That's NOT what is going on here. These are ILLEGAL individuals demanding a free handout and a backdoor path to citizenship. They want all the benefits without any of the responsibility or having to put any of the effort into it in order to get it. What does that say about their "hardworking" work ethic?

Those here illegally and those that sympathize with them need to get the hell out of the U.S. and leave it for those that respect it and WANT to be here, not just take advantage of it and use it like a diaper.

So basically you're saying it's perfectly fine for Mexicans to come here in floods simply because they share a border with us, but immigrants from other nations must go thru every legal mean to even have a chance to come here.

It is not easy to emigrate to America if you're from a second or third-world nation. Legal immigration is limited. Why are Mexicans special, then?

+1^1000 to PoP's commments.

bryanthompson 04-28-2006 11:38 AM

You emigrate from a country, but immigrate into a country.

doesn't 1^1000 = 1?

The system's broken, we all know it. Nothing is about to get fixed, so don't bother even getting excited about it.

turbo6bar 04-28-2006 11:42 AM

Sorry, I was thinking in reference to other countries.

You better rethink the definition of "racism."

Nationalism is one thing - and what we're going through with it in the U.S. is a mild case.

Extreme nationalism would be akin to what we did to Japanese-Americans after 1941.

Racism on the level you're projecting would be genocide.

No one is calling for a mass extermination of Mexican and/or Latin illegal aliens in the U.S.

Yes, it was their land...once...but they fought America for it, and lost. Annexing what we now have was the spoils of that loss.

That would be hilarious... better make sure PPOT isn't running on a windows machine first, though. Not sure IIS could handle it :p

Well to call me a racist is just plain stupid.

First, I LOVE the Latin American culture and so look foward to trips to Miami so I can immerse myself in it.

I had dated only Latin girls growing up. My wife, who I thought was latin (her best friend Puerto Rican) turned out to be Portugese and Italian. I would have bet money she was Puerto Rican.

My friends are diverse, from European to Latin American to African American to Native American.

I had a client in my office today who is Mexican. He was on his cell phone talking to a sub-contractor. He said something about being on a job site Monday. My co-worker asked him if he was working Monday. He rolled his eyes and said "Do not get me started".

I guess he is a racist too.

Jims5543 04-28-2006 12:35 PM

Florida belonged to the Spanish who handed it over in a peace treaty. Should all Spaniards who want to come to the US be allowed to walk right in?

POP is spot on thank you for taking the time to explain how a typical American feels about this bad Mexican joke.

I wish I was more proactive about this walk out. I have so many good ideas that would have rattled so many businesses. Its just too late to put it these idea into action.

One idea was a Post in not applied to a closed businesses window stating you will never reutrn there. The manager and owner of that business would crap their pants if the front of their business was plastered with them.

RickM 04-28-2006 01:07 PM

Jim, Good news. Your wife is Latin.

(BTW, well put PoP)

Just for reference....

Latin countries or Latin Europe...

"Andorra, France, Italy, Moldova, Monaco, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Spain and Vatican City. It also includes some regions from other countries, such as Wallonia in Belgium and the French- and Italian-speaking cantons of Switzerland."

"Latin America:

"Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. The 20 republics are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The term Latin America is also used to include Puerto Rico, the French West Indies, and other islands of the West Indies where a Romance tongue is spoken. Occasionally the term is used to include Belize, Guyana, French Guiana, and Suriname."

"Latin America is an equivalent term to refer to countries in the Americas with a Romance language. Although the language and cultural features of parts of the society (often the upper part) is derived from Roman, Latin American countries have partial Latin culture, due to Amerindian and African influence. The use of the words Latin and latino as used in the United States to speak only about Latin-American things is considered ignorance-derived by some Latin Europeans, and occasionally offensive."

No matter. She is hot looking hot blooded and hot tempered. All the things I love. I have not been married to her for 17 years for nothing. ;)
