Cannot wait until Monday...

The day I decide who I continue to do business with and who I will not.

Any business that cannot function due to lack off ILLEGAL labor will never get my business again.

Tyson chicken lost my business already.

MattKellett 04-27-2006 03:08 PM

Jim - I think you might not be able to eat!! I'm fairly sure that nearly all produce involves some sort of illegal labor in one form or another!

I wish you luck on your commitment.

Matt

Hope you're not a fast food junkie...

bryanthompson 04-27-2006 03:27 PM

Jim, keep us updated with the companies/brands/whatever you end up buying. I won't go all out against any of 'em, since I think it would be damn near impossible, but I will give my support the good companies when I can.

Never eat there.

I am looking into the Tuna companies now, I eat a can of Tuna every day for lunch.

Much to my wifes disaproval, I do not eat green food. I hate veggies and do not eat friut normally. I get my vitamins and minerals though a daily suplement.

I do not use a landscaper and on those rare occasions whenI do I use a guy I know employs only taxpayers. No illegals there.

We shop at Publix ( chain in the Southeast) that might change Monday. There is a local fine foods place that is locally owned, a little farther away but worth the drive.

I know its nearly impossible to ban everyone/everything but whatever changes I can make to send a message to these companies I will.

I am sure all our schools will be nice and empty too.

I think it is sad companies like Tyson announce that they are closing Monday. I am e-mailing them to tell them they lost me and anyone else that will listen to me as a customer.

Kudos. Ya gotta start somewhere.

I haven't set foot in a Harbor Freight in many years. I'm sure someone can point out that I'm a hypocrit for whatever reason, but I prefer to support quality tools from quality companies.

I've had ample opportunity to hire illegals from the roadside to help fix up rental houses, but I've resisted the lure. I figure why pay some to foock up my house, when I do a darn good job all by myself. :)

In the meantime, the president of the local RE investors club started a company called Latino Labor, bringing cheap labor to landlords and investors. I can't believe that company hasn't been busted by the IRS yet. Maybe it has.

Tyson foods lost us as a customer long ago...remember Hillary's
beef futures trading scandal???? The involvement of a Tyson executive?

Jims5543 04-27-2006 04:03 PM

My e-mail to Tyson.

I am a small business owner in Florida. I employ 10 people. I was sorely disappointed to find out your company will be closing Monday in support of illegal aliens.

I have chosen too, and will ask everyone I know to not buy your products anymore. We are taxpaying Americans tired of being pushed around by illegal immigrants. We will cease doing business with any company that employs or supports illegal aliens.

I realize this is a tough promise to follow through on. We will be starting with high profile companies like yours and looking for companies that can fill the void with legal employees.
LOL! Their automated response. I like "interest".

Jim - I have been to many food processing plants - bottling, canning, freeze, produce processing, kill plants, further processing, confectionary, baking just to name a few. I have yet to visit any plant that doesn't have a majority of Hispanics on the line. I will be willing to bet that at least 2% to 10% are illegals.

I hope your business is one that can groe and process food or you will be loosing some weight this summer real quick!

Great now U can start buying Sandersons Chicken...I got a gun collecting buddy that owns a Chicken Farm that is under contract to Sanderson...

I'll have to ask him if he is an illegal alien...he does talk with a funny accent...I just thought it was because he lives in Missippi.

I watched the news last night for the 1st time in months. I hate the news. Anyway, I saw a statistic that "claims" meat cutters / Packers made $19 an hour in 1980 and now in 2006 make $9 an hour because of the overwhelming availability of cheap illegal labor.

Is this state true? I have no idea.

My business is Land Surveying. I have in the past employed a Mexican. He had his green card and social security number and I reported it to the labor board and withheld and deposited his taxes and SS like a law abiding employer. I have a Puerto Rican employee now who's parents immigrated here LEGALLY when he was a child.

How these big companies can get away with hiring all these illegals is beyond me. I cannot do it. I would be busted in a minute. Unless of course I pay off the books and lie to the IRS about how much money comes into my business. But that is another irritation with me, Patriots who will cheat on their taxes at the drop of a hat.

Will I make a difference? Probably not, if everyone I know would do the same and TRY to aviod companies that are supporting the illegal activity it micht actually have an impact.

This whole "lets take american to its knees" mentality is pissing me off to no end.

I read a letter in Time from an Indian Immigrant who is in the process of getting his green card. He made a good point, if the US lets all these legal have amnesty then the message sent to all other immigrants is it is better to break the law than to try to do things legally. That is a bad message to send.

Doesn't May 1st have a certain ring to it? I wiki'ed it:

"May Day has long been a focal point for demonstrations by various socialist, communist, and anarchist groups. In some circles, bonfires are lit in commemoration of the Haymarket Riot usually right as the first day of May begins. In the 20th century, May Day received the official endorsement of the Soviet Union; celebrations in communist countries during the Cold War era often consisted of large military parades and shows of common people in support of the government."

In so. Florida, unless you're in a tiny apartment, you can plant dwarf fruit trees including citrus and harvest your daily requirement that way. We had a 10+ foot Key lime tree in CA, and are planting four citrus trees here in South Carolina. We'll worry about cold protection later this year. We've also planted cherries (three varieties), Apples (two varieties), a plum, and have at least three types of peaches/nectarines in the ground most of which won't get taller than 10 feet.

Since we have the space and no restrictions; we'll likely have chickens soon and maybe something on the hoof next year.

I agree. Let these idiots have their feel-good pep rally. I think (and hope) it will only backfire and prove to the world how much better off we are without them and that society will keep humming along just fine in their absence.

I'm looking forward to a day being able to drive to work on less-congested freeways too without having to deal with junky old pickup trucks with out-of-date registrations, no insurance and piled high (and unsafe) with stolen landscape equipment. Ditto on the tired old minivans with 16 kids in the back.

Should be a good day to commute. Ahhh.

would be an interesting experiment. I don't think it would hum along just fine, but we'll never know...

I forgot, is it OK to eat grapes again?

craigster59 04-28-2006 09:03 AM

At least in So.California, if only for 1 day, English will be the primary language in our classrooms.
