No Porsche, No Job, No CA & 2700 Miles
It's my last day at work with a firm I have been with since October 1999. Sold the 3.6 conversion. A divorce. Two former houses in Newport Beach. The last of my furniture was sold last night. The Harley is in the bed of the truck and the trailer is being loaded. What ever didn't fit is in the trash or donated.
Tonight, I start the 2700 mile drive to Palm Beach, Florida from So Cal. Stops in Phoenix, Houston, Baton Rouge, Jacksonville and then WPB at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Just in time for Cinco de Mayo. I've met a bunch of great Pelican Heads over the years here in So Cal.. New years runs, Big Bear runs and a few track days at Willow Springs. Seeing BB2 being built at TRE. . . . Those days of So Cal are now gone. Hopefully good things await in Florida. A new house is in the plans, a new (to me) 993, and a the makings of my own busness. Adios Ca! Hola Florida!

Good luck!
Do you have room in the trailer to take a couple hundred thousand other carpetbaggers with ya?

Boats are cheap in Fla now. There are plenty of so called hurricane proof houses if you know what to look for. A multi story condo is a permanent evac waiting to happen. East of the main drag is the place to be for ocean cooling. Last i heard was a blond blue eyed 5yr old was worth $60,000. They'll grab them while you're shopping with them.
Fire truck mfg's are looking for elec techs in Fla that know how to use a scope for trouble shooting at the customers station. Great bennys and an experienced guy could get $100k + co vehicle, ++

Drop an E-mail to me once settled.
Jims5543@aol.com My Porsche is in NC right now but my 500+ HP RX-7 will be ready in about 3 weeks. Once you have your new p-car let me know. We will have to meet up with other P-cars. Especially in the fall when the temps are better. (and my P-car is back in Florida.) I would love to show you around PB once in town. E-mail me.

I think Paul kinda got raked over the coals by his wife. I know he had to get off the 3.6 because of CA smog ramifications. I don't think his wife is blameless in this deal and Paul wanted to get as far away as possible from all these problems. I didn't think it would take this long to finalize the move.Paul, if I said it wrong, please correct me. I remember coming down and getting the magazines from you way back. We never met, they were laid out where you said they would be. I still thank you. A 3rd reader is on them now. BTW, I saw a couple of 993 cabs last week at a function and I was impressed. When you get yours, POST A PIC! Anyway, I hope you find FL to be to your liking. Here's to good weather and a safe trip. |
