These constant "marketing campaigns" on Shaun's behalf continue to raise the issue of his poor behavior. I image that he wishes he was not getting so much "help" and those whose "friendhip" he has bought would just let the topic die. It must be tough to realize that one's only friends are those you gave expensive gifts.

I seriously doubt that's the case.

Give credit where credit is due. If someone does something good for another, it's never allowed to be acknowledged because Shaun messed with Joe at one time or something???

10 years from now, if Shaun does something nice for another, is it not allowed to be acknowledged never, ever, ever, because Shaun messed with Joe one time long ago?

Is that how you live your life? Sidenote, Fint, I'm pretty sure you're not like that....

Translation: pay no attention to the timing, behind the curtain

Translation: no, really; pay no attention to the timing behind the curtain! TIming should NOT be considered here!

Translation: I think that I can reprove, gently and earnestly, a sideways personal appeal to influence fint's future actions. WHy? . . .because I have a c...

Chicky,
Everyone's bullshyte meter is calibrated differently. Yours obviously is set a bit lower than some of us. When G9 boy canceled the check, it was bad enough and he could have been blown off as just a jerk. When he came back with that idiotic story about a social experiment, he went off the BS charts. It's not just that either. His business just making brightly colored tshirts, handbags and belts for kids to sell under the auspices of improving self image by way of purchasing "shiny" things. That's the essence of his marketing ploy/plan. It's really easy for some of us to see through G9 giving a few trinkets away to help rebuild his image on the BBS.

So you're thinking he "paid" people off to say nice things about him or something?

And FTR, with all due respect, I genuinely don't think some bet on a Porsche OT forum board is going to make or break his business....I'm sorry, but I honestly believe that....

[scottmandue switching off normal silly sarcastic Internet mode]

Umkay what have we learned here.

1. When selling car parts or T-shirts Shaun is a darn nice guy.

2. IMHO sitting at a keyboard posting on the Internet is a much different situation than a normal social gathering and therefor we say and do things we might not otherwise. For instance I seriously doubt this whole "bet" thing would have escalated to the epic proportions that it has with out the aid of the Internet.
Also IMHO I don't think Shaun had any malice in mind however (in hindsight) he did handle the whole situation rather badly. That being said how many of us have "opened mouth, insert foot"?

3. I think CC and island have a thing going ;)

No, it's more like island has a thing going. You will note, I never respond to anything he posts first(nothing useful in his posts anyway....) , it's always him responding to something I posted....every time....stalking me.....

That's not what I said. His biz is totally dependant on kids begging their parents for shiny things. Doubt many peops here will buy his rags. I and many others believe he's attempting to re up his image on the bbs by spreading the love with a few parts. Whether Toby acknowledged g9'S gift on the bbs was a gamble, but one that paid off. And good for Toby that he got a free part. I still think G9 is full of shyte.

Looking at the original post only, I can see where you are coming from. But coupled with the subsequent posts of events that happened before this drama even started, it seems unlikely all of these were some sort of a plan...

As it has been pointed out by others...it is all about timing. Shaun does not really have a history of generosity in dealing with Porsche parts....just the opposite. Sudden revelations of such are obviously suspect considering the current situation.

That said, Shaun has always been the first to take any argument personal (in fact, that is what the bet was all about)...and he is reaping as he sowed. He had every opportunity to sheepishly pay off his stupid bet like a man...He chose otherwise...fully knowing the consequences....When he could no longer take the heat...he paid off. If not for the constant support of his loser friends who seek to excuse his behavior, his attempts to divert attention, and his sudden generosity...this would have fallen off the radar and we would be spending our time wondering about Pat...who is clearly beyond belief....but every time the issue starts to die...Shaun or one of his surrogates post something that starts it again. Help like this is the last thing he needs.

cool_chick 05-06-2006 09:31 AM

....

I imagine most guys are nice to you when they are selling you something....visit your local used car lot and see for yourself

As far as malice....the bet that Shaun insisted on was certainly made that way...and I really can't imagine that you think that stopping payment on his check was somehow an accident. You must really have a high threshold/tolerance for bad behavior to consider this without malice.
