What President Ahmadinejad said...

Among other things,
Quote:
"September Eleven was a horrendous incident. The killing of innocents is deplorable and appalling in any part of the world. Our government immediately declared its disgust with the perpetrators and offered its condolences to the bereaved and expressed its sympathies."
http://www.antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=8968
Bush'ist Condo Rice responded to the letter before it was translated from Farsi to English, i.e. she had no idea what it said.

While I don't particularly like Ahmadinejad, it's obvious that he will continue to support Iran's legitimate power to pursue either self defense and scientific nuclear research and development.

That is like saying the warden responded to the prisoner without hearing what the prisoner had to say. Ahmadinejad is about as rational as Kim Jong Il.

Are you Michael Jacksons neighbor? The letter this wacko zealot sent did not address the immediate issues pertaining to suspending uranium enrichment or following guidelines set by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Nothing else he scribbles matters.

Amusing cultural differences and bizzare brinksmanship strategies aside, we're actually a lot closer in attitudes and culture to Iran than most other countries in the region. A vast majority of the actual citizens are very pro western. Iran is a perfect example of a country where giving them a big hug--normalizing diplomatic relations, opening trade, etc. would probably move them dramatically towards liberal western attitudes within a few years.

This is what he also said:

"Those with insight, can already hear the sounds of the shattering and fall of the ideology and thoughts of the liberal democratic systems. We increasingly see that people around the world are flocking toward a main focal point--that is the Almighty God. . . . My question for you [Mr. Bush] is, 'Do you not want to join them?' "

Iran's legitimate power to pursue either self defense and scientific nuclear research and development??

Who is going to attack them? What is the #1 reason any other nation would want to do that? Research and development? There are better things they can invest their money in.

Your inability to focus is becoming more painfully obvious every day.

Stick to the subject, Noah, you'll be much better off.

Edit: I forgot, the Sec. State's first name is Condoleezza, Condo for short.

I have read this in more than a few places. A natural counterbalance to the Arab world. Too bad President Ahmadinejad and the mad mullahs don't want to play along. They have a whole other world view and agenda. Maybe in a few years MTV and the internet will do the trick. As for now, the crackpots are in charge.

I think we should make nicey with the UAE and Dubai, unfortunately slapped in the face by those not in the Bush camp, this would send the message you offer. Iran needs a slap. Iran's problem is the entrenched theocracy, not the people. Iranian American refugees are some of the most patriotic Americans I have met.

I think you guys both make good observations. Iran has had a taste of a 'more Westernized' culture a couple of times in the past 25 years, and there is open defiance to the Mullahs' strict fundie Islam as well as an "underground" westernized youth culture, from what I hear. This parallels what was happening in the old Soviet Union pretty closely. It's hard to overstate the influence of Levis and MTV.

If there was a way to "slap" only the mullahs, then by all means we should do so. Unfortunately in the case of Iran, the people don't uniformly hate their government. If the "slap" strategy was marginal for Iraq, where the vast majority did despise the government, it would be even less effective in Iran, instead driving the people towards nationalism.

No, I think in this case we need to send Condi over there with a couple of container ship loads of Levis, Playstations, satellite dishes, whiskey and good old American porn as a peace offering.

Yes, but it would be patently un-American, unpatriotic and subversive to embrace any course of action that didn't involve blowing ***** up, killing people, or giving a shot-in-the-arm (pun intended) to those U.S. corporations that profiteer off of warfare.

You should hang for treason for suggesting that peace or open-mindedness has any place in post-W Amerika.

I call bull$hit-*. How do you know that's a true statement? Posting obscure, or third-hand, sources does not count.

(This should not be construed as a Red or Blue challenge. Only a challenge for Patsy to back up his unsubstantiated claims.)

Well, the USA is lining up to attack Iran, according to its rhetoric.

Iran would have to be nervous, wouldnt it, given that its neighbour was invaded and occuppied.

Pastfat should enjoy this new Iranian amusement park. In fact, he could give them ideas for exhibits.

You've already supplied the 914GT hall of smoke and mirrors, I can't add to that.

Yeah, so nervous that they smuggle IED materials across the border to kill the 'great satan', and threaten to wipe Israel off the map.

There's no proof of the first, and the latter is rhetoric of the same type as that used by the Israeli's all the time.

Gosh, you have a one dimensional view of the world. DO you remember when the US covertly armed the Mujahadin against the Russians? Even lent them Rambo, as I recall.
