PHL is the worst airport?

Just flew into PHL for the weekend. We spent 35 minutes on the taxiways after landing because they had planes stacked ten deep for takeoffs. The you walk what seems like forever to get to baggage claim. The you get a rental car and meander for another couple of miles to find your way out. Glad I'm out of there.

Newark is a close second. Both pilots and pax hate it equally.

I don't think I've ever been in a "good" airport.

Denver is okay, I wouldn't want to vacation there but they got some bars and decent food, Chicago is a little spread out (if you are trying to do a connecting flight) but they have okay amenities and they have a train station right in the airport,
Honolulu is nice... but then it is Honolulu.

PHL? What's that for those of us that don't know airport codes?

I actually got lost just trying to *leave* the Newark airport once. Newark, NJ is not the place for some guy from Alabama to get lost, either...

Denver is OK. Houston's Hobby is nice. ABQ is nice. I still don't like Atlanta or DFW. John Wayne in OC is nice, but I understand the pilots don't like it.

PHL = philadelphia,

You forgot to mention the other great thing about the Philthadelphia airport. Frequently flying into philthadelphia you have to sit in the airplane and wait for a union worker to get off his/her 15 minute break to come move the jet-way to the plane while you sit parked waiting. I love that! Do you want to start on what is wrong with the entire city while you are at it? I lived there for a long time so I know better than you can imagine.

From what I gather, the leadership of Philadelphia and Detroit made a lot of the same mistakes in the 60's and 70's, but Philadelphia has to somewhat survive.

I've never been through there but I've heard more than once that Newark is one of the worst. Never heard anything real bad about PHL, but I've never had to go through there either. Who's hub is that?

I like Memphis (MEM) and Nashville (BNA) okay. Chicago Midway (MDY) is nice, Chicago O'Hare (ORD) can be brutal. Id' rather drive to wherever than try to make a connection through Atlanta Hartsfield (ATL)

Hmm all these bad comments on Newark and I actually liked flying there, and I do fly into it almost every christmas and never seem to have a problem with delays. Only flew into philly once, and I do remeber that the security sucked. Tons of different lines, but I could not figure out which one I needed to be in.

I use Newark for all of my international business travel. It sux mightily. The walk is long(I walk with a cane), the take off queue is really long, and the slightest bit of rain causes delays up the gazoo!

I've been using Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton(ABE) for many of my short domestic flights.

The best? Columbia SC, but it is not International.

I like the rocking chairs at the Columbia airport.

I was there last Spring going to & from Paris.

What a horrific experience coming back. worse than waiting for a Disneyland ride. Shuffle over here; get screened. Stand. Shuffle over there; get screeened. Walk down a maze of halls and stairs and get screened... and then 150 feet later, get screened again (!)

The trip out of the country was pretty smooth, though, with plenty of amenities not too far from the gate. Not that there was anything healthy to eat, but if you wanted something with 'extra cheese,' well, no problem.

Jumping on that anti-EWR bandwagon. WIthout a doubt, the worst to fly in and out of. Slightest hint of a thunderstorm and everythign grinds to a halt. Not that it's really moving much there anyway...

Only saving grace is the relatively palatial Continental Presidents club lounge.

Houston Bush takes second...

I cant understand how people dont like ATL. It is, by far, the best laid out airport, and easiest to get around in, of all the bigger airports.

ATL is a good airport, just wish Delta had better equipment in the air.

If I lived there and had a direct flight anywhere I probably wouldn't hate it the way I do. It is very easy to get through and its laid out very well. I really like the way that MARTA is connected to it. It's making connecting flights through there that seem to kill me every time. Same thing would probably true at any major hub. I'm sure that O'Hare has to be worse than Hartsfield. Especially in the Winter.

I made close to 200 connections through Memphis in the last two years. I've been stuck there overnight once and I've had a 1 hr+ delay twice in that time. I'm 0 for 4 through ATL during the same period of time, including an overnight stay on my Birthday last year, so yeah, I get a little salty when I have to travel through there
