Polishing my P-40

I'm pimping my P-40. I removed the bluing and polished it up the best I can. It looks like I should have started with something less than the 400 grit sand paper I have...

Next Step: Copper plating

Red looks good. 400 just meant more elbow from you. I start shotgun barrels with 320, then keep going until Flitz. Then it's off to the rusting box after the solution.

Kel-tec machines the slides very well, but they don't finish them to the same degree as others. My next attempt will be a bit more polished!

Sounds like a Texas BBQ to me!

Looks like you should have started with 220 and progressed to 1500, and then polishing compound. Then plating.

I can re-build, make it better than it is.

I only had 400 in wet/dry. I'll get a bunch more and try again. This time, probably, chrome!

Yeah, well except open carry isn't legal here, except on your own property.

If my Chrome job doesn't work out, I can send it to a good gunsmith who will nickle plate it for $25. He does this for the KTOG guys.

I would suggest Nickel plating first, followed by Gold plating. The Nickel is bullet proof, so to speak and makes an excellent base for the soft gold.
