I miss my minivan
I don't care what you guys think. Minivans are indispensible. What else can haul 7 people and their luggage comfortably and in luxury and still get upwards of 20 mpg? Unfortunately, mine's been in the shop for a week and I miss the heck out of it. Independant shop can't figure out why the factory alarm and door locks won't work so off to the dealer it goes.
Makes me look like an old man you say? Who cares? It has great AC, power outlets everywhere, 2nd row captain's seats that hide below when not needed and power sliding doors all around. Ever try clibing into and sitting in the 3rd row of an SUV? Torture for a fat guy. |

LOL!
My brother-in-law refuses to buy a minivan because he hates looking like a "family man", yet he struggles fitting his two baby girls, wife and all their crap in his station wagon. Who's he foolin'? Last edited by cantdrv55; 06-03-2006 at 07:46 AM.. |

A wise man once said:
"You are not what you drive" I had a mini van for a work vehicle and loved it.

I'm coming around to the whole minivan idea. I particularly like the first-gen Honda Odyssey that wasn't so tall and blocky. The 14 mpg Range Rover is getting old. Most likely we will own some sort of minivan in the coming year. Have to get a bodykit for it, so's I'll still be cool.

We finally bought one last week. Never have I been less enthused about a purchase butn now I see what you guys were talking about.
Lots of room for the kids and the dog, stroller, diaper bags, etc. My wife found a luggage carrier for the roof rack for $10.00 at a rummage sale so I can haul the whole freakin' house with us. My even has a built in air compressor. THAT's pretty cool.

I love my Honda Element. Great gas milage (27@70mph) and it carries 3 full size road bike without disasembly and three riders with gear for 4 days. And then I can just hose it out! Fantastic. My other car is my hotrod 930. No bikes, just boost!

BTDT on the minivan thing. Came to my senses, the wife drives the Supercrew, and I drive the P-car daily. You can't survive without a pickup bed more than you can't get along without a minivan. Try picking up a yard of gravel in a minivan.

had a '92 dodge caravan cargo van about a decade ago..had about a half million miles on it..lol. i was putting power steering and transmission fluid in it every week..but it kept on running. sold it 5 years ago for $1500. also had a glasspack in it..no overdrive..it sounded like a powerboat.

I had a full sized Ford Club Wagon for 16 years & loved that thing. Paid cash for it. Gas mileage wasn't very good. The sticker on it said 13 city, 15 highway. When I sold it (my wife made me), it had a quarter of a million miles on it, got the same mileage as the original window sticker said, didn't use any oil, & was in otherwise amazing shape. I used it for hauling, towing, camping, afternoon delights, traveling and anything else it could be used for. Now I have a giant pick up I thought was going to be better for hauling & towing, but is really inconvenient to get things in to & out of (really high compared to the van), and doesn't carry as much as the van did. But my wife is happy I'm not driving around in that embarrasing old van.
