My findings have shown that non-believers are the minority.

Most people believe there is a God. ( even in France )

I hate to be brutal but I a lot of people believe in God because its convienient but if you really pin them down they are as sceptical as me. They believe because they are scared not because they really believe.

There is no God
There is no Devil

Man is both really good and really evil, we do not need super natural help to swing in either direction.

I didn't see it that way.

I'm just saying that nearly everyone on earth believes in a higher power that was responsible for all of what you see being here.

The details of beliefs vary widely, of course.

If you don't fit into that description, you are in the minority.
People by nature want to believe. It's in our make-up.

I've even found that people who say, "I don't believe in God", actually do.

All great leaps forward for science, medicine, physics, chemestry and rational thinking were from people in the minority. Majority might rule, but they are seldom correct in their thinking. Keywords: rational thinking (free of emotion, cultural baggage and supersition, try "outside the box". Question everything! Demand answers with measurable and repeatable results. My Father always told me 10% of the people think, 15% of the people think they think, the rest would rather die than think.

welcome back!

I'm not suggesting majority means right.

In this case, the majority feels a need to acknowledge a "higher source". ( automatically )

It's not about thinkers or dumb-dumbs. :D

Yes it is, but you would not know or understand that.

Most adults in this country also drive cars/trucks. Some drive motorcycles and a few don't drive at all. Of thos that don't drive, it may be a personal choice becuase they rather use public transit (city dwellers) or they can't afford it. Some may even just use bicycles but that is rare.

The ones that do drive cars/trucks, they drive used ones or new ones - a somewhat interestimg selection and is really based on their personal taste and what they are trying to do. In many case the ecomony plays into it while society plays a strong role as well. In certain instances, some actually make their one or modifies what they have to suit their needs better.

Sound like religion and the belief in God? It should because there is no difference. Many folks worship for the same reason they drive or are transported. There simply is no better way to get from point A to Point Z in a decent time frame.

now tell me, is the belief in God and the use of religion really any different? Not one person in any church will believe exactly the same as another in the same church.

Just because you post it, doesn't make it true.:)

I'm enjoying being part of an international brotherhood that worships in unity.

if togetherness and brotherhood is what you wanted, you might as well have joined the Marine Corp..

Today ... is Christmas! There will be a
magic show at zero-nine-thirty! Chaplain
Charlie will tell you about how the free
world will conquer Communism with the
aid of God and a few marines!

God has a hard-on for marines because we
kill everything we see! He plays His games,
we play ours! To show our appreciation for
so much power, we keep heaven packed
with fresh souls! God was here before the
Marine Corps! So you can give your heart
to Jesus, but your ass belongs to the Corps!
Do you ladies understand?

HARTMAN
(voice over)
From now on, until the day you die, wherever
you are, every marine is your brother. Most of
you will go to Vietnam. Some of you will not
come back. But always remember this:
marines die, that's what we're here for! But
the Marine Corps lives forever. And that
means you live forever!

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but
this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It
is my life. I must master it, as I must master
my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my
rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I
must shoot straighter than my enemy who is
trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he
shoots me. I will.

Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and
myself are defenders of my country. We are
the masters of our enemy. We are the saviours
of my life. So be it .. . until there is no enemy
...but peace. Amen.
man , it's basically everything you've always dreamt off Trekkor !!
brotherhood, rhetoric, prayers, and living forever

Stijn, I'm pretty sure that every post you have ever made to me has been designed to irritate, distract, disturb or taunt. Why do you do that?

This last one was very weak. I did giggle, though. :)

I can't force you to believe the truth.

trekkor 06-13-2006 07:14 AM

i never will...

You forgot " the truth", though. :)

I find it interesting that people come up with so many different answers to questions that have only one answer.

It's like saying there is more than one answer to 1 plus 1.
It's always 2. Anything else is false. Argue all you like, it will still be 2.

It's the same regarding the deeper things in life.

Like what the future holds.

KT

svandamme 06-13-2006 07:22 AM

no i didn't forget the truth

if you wanna know why i'm so rebellious to your posts, simple , i will always rebel against those who present stuff , as the absolute, and only truth...

you cannot proove a single thing with facts that are indisputable
not even with your precious bible you can't, since that bible is so full of stuff that can be interpreted in different ways... so the only thing one ends up discussing , is the matter of how it was interpreted... hardly proof...

who cares what the future holds, it would be very boring to know exactly what will happen next

very boring.

trekkor 06-13-2006 07:35 AM

Thanks for your honesty, Stijn.

All I'm saying is, there IS an absolute truth...On all issues.

I think talking to you face to face would be fun.

I'll be right over...;)

Run! Run for the hills! Trekkor (with god on his side) is coming!

“There is only one truth” Trekkor.

Now there is an open minded individual. Have you ever had a logic course? If so, did you sleep though it?

If you truly (I mean - truly) believe this, then you have some serious issues. From what I have seen, the only people who view the world in absolutes are the wackos at the fringes. Most people understand that there are gray areas in everything.

You really need to qualify your statements. While you might have found peace and happiness in *your* religion - it's a total waste of time for most people on Earth - just ask them. Your implication that your way of life is best and the rest of us should really consider thinking like you do is insulting.

Mike
