Tiny brads. Made it to the dryer, I had to remove the drum and spent hours pulling them out of the seal.

My son washed a 1 gig usb memory stick. Works fine still.

My kids leaving multiple crayons in their pockets, multiple different times. Like said before, the worst was the dryer action, kind of a home craft project / accident look to your clothes after that. Too many little pockets to check with two little boys at the time.

Not the worst thing I washed but a funny story.

Before getting married (22 years ago) when just getting started in construction I was washing my clothes and once in a while I would come up with my underwear and t-shirts with either reddish pink or light blue stains in them, or both.

I stained quite a few clothes before I discovered I was washing my work jeans, which many times had red or blue chalk in them from using chalk lines.

It really was a head scratcher for a while because you can't see the chalk in the jeans unless they get pretty faded.

Droped mine in a urnial while it was turned on, dried it out and it worked fine.

Gum in the washer or dyer is bad. I have a few pairs of pants that have gum permentally attached to in the insides of the pockets.

Keys, nails, screws, bolts, nuts, pocket knives, candy, gum, one of my Sons Motorola Walkie Talkies. My wife will put my shoes (boots, sneakers, work shoes) in from time to time. They come out clean but the insides are never the same and in a few short weeks have to be replaced.

The worst was a stack of business cards I got on a trip once along with some CC receipts. That expense report got real creative!

a hearing aid, digital, cost $2K, in a velcro sealed pouch. Went thru the dryer too.

And it worked afterwards.

My chapstick and my wallet. Really pissed me off when I saw what was left of my wallet and its contents.

Dollar bills will actually shrink a little if they go thru the dryer.

Moto Razr black went through the washer two days after getting it. Trasceiver fried, all the alchohol baths / scrubbing, dry-outs, trips through the oven, in the world couldn't save it Fortunately I had a buddy w/ a broken razr that I was able to scavenge a transceiver out of and resurect my phone

A box of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies. I have several nieces that age, and 'Uncle Michael' is always good for several cases. The overflow go into the cabinets right over the washer/dryer.

Must have knocked a box in when reaching for the soap.

The box shredded, and the contents, in two little hermetically sealed packages, were unopened, but the cookies melted and then re-welded together, still in their packages. Took several flushings / pickings of the wash tub to remove the shredded cardboard.
