Linksys router help needed

Anyone know how to configure a Linksys router to allow incomming traffic?

I was having issues with my Linksys router so I called their support line. It was a obscure (to me) setting in the router set up that needed to be different to clear up problems I was having. Running very well now. I suggest you call them, it's very quick.

Even complete opposites can agree occasionally!

I was having an issue configuring my Access Point (The Wireless Router was working like a champ). Called Linksys Support and their rep was great. Had me up and running in no time, then took some extra time to walk me through some tweaks to make the whole system work better.

Call them!!!

Randy

I've done it. What kind of traffic? FTP, HTTP, etc. You have to open the port and allow the program to get through the firewall.

I wouldn't recommend that if he's using a PC unless he has the King Kong of protection software. Using it with a Mac is pretty safe with only a software firewall and virus protection.

Here are the two key menus for port forwarding and applications. As Pat said it'd recommended to have a good firewall software running on the PC as well.

Had a terrible time with mine until I realized the problem was my ISP. Do you by any chance have SBC/Yahoo DSL? If so, I think I have the fix.

I've got SBC/Yahoo dial up at the new house and it's GARBAGE!! At the shop I have SBC DSL and it couldn't be better, very few problems once it got set up correctly.

Kevin, do you have static or dynamic IP addressing from the ISP? You'll need to open the porton the router, then tell the router which computer/port to use when traffic comes in. Both are in the screenshots above.
