Not even a well trained lizard would have the reaction time to correct that. Bang! 0.00002 seconds later and its a lost cause. Scary!

Did you see the tire blow on the LMP car at LeMans this past weekend? Holy crap, the rear bodywork tore off and then the car turned hard left into the wall and the rest of the bodywork tore off.

I'm sure his underwear looked worse than the tire.

That Le Mans incident was mind-boggling to watch. All because of a tire...

What was really interesting was the Fifth Gear special that they did on "tire blowouts", and they showed how a rear blowout was WAAAYYY worse than a front.

But yeah... the speed at which that tire blew up the rest of the car was insane.

I don't think he would have been so lucky if it had been a front tire.

You'd think so, but that episode of 5th Gear showed that the rear tire blowout is waayyy more severe and causes more problems than a front.

When a front blows, it causes weight transfer to the front and you can somewhat keep it in control.

When a rear blows, it unsettles the front and "pulls" on the rear quarter, generally causing a loss of control.

On the first spin it almost looked like the car was going to flip.

To me it looks like the weight in the rear helped keep the rear from catching the air and flipping it.....What do you guys think?

Also I had a driver side rear POS tire blow at maybe 95-100MPH. I was just happily cruising down a long straight then ..... BAM .

What was that cover that got sucked off? Where the passenger airbag would be?

I had a blowout on a rear tire of my 86 Carrera Cab going about 90. It was pretty impressive how stable the car stayed...you couldnt tell other than the noise and the feel of the increasing drag. Of course 90 is not 150.
