Illegal Accident
Saturday morning, in West Chicago, the wife and I were head to Chicago to see my sister. Near the corner of Hawthorne and Rt. 59, we hear a the distinctive sounds of a car accident to our left.
At first, I thought the F350 driving down the road perpendicular to us was taking out fence posts as it went...but I realized there was a car behind it (from our line of sight) on another street that had crashed into the same fence. I can see lots of people come out of their houses on their cell phones (presumably calling the police). Out of the car stumbles a visibly drunk Mexican guy. He walks around for a few seconds, and takes off running...

I don't understand people. Even if you're drunk, you must realize that it will be easy to figure out to whom the car belongs.
Unless it wasn't his car...

I was thinking about that.
West Chicago is overrun with illegals, and most of them have cars... The best I can figure, is they buy their cars through private sales and never send in the titles to be re-registered. As I think about it more...maybe "document" shops can take care of this? You know, one stop shopping for a SSN card, drivers' licence, and car title? (How come those of us who do it legally have to go to three different places?)

When I used to store my car trailer in a storage yard I had 2 license plates stolen. I started taking them off and locking them in the tool box. The police said they take the plate for the regi sticker. They put it on their stolen plate. Hard to spot a trailer plate regi sticker from a following car.

The bleeding hearts always seem to skip over the real world consequences of turning a blind eye to the out of control illegal problem in this country.
I rode cross country on a red-eye a couple of weeks ago. I and the crew were the only english speaking people on the plane. Everyone had their entire wordly possessions (mostly mud-stained) in the overheads, and they were dropped off and picked up by large vans at each end. Something is wrong, and no one with the power to fix it has the cajones to step up and do anything about it.

The extremist groups like MADD have pushed lawmakers to increase the punishment of a DUI conviction until it has grossly surpassed the penalty for hit and run.
If someone is drunk and they get away only to be caught several hours later, the evidence of DUI is often gone so the worst they can get nailed for is leaving the scene of an accident and possibly some traffic infractions. Very common around here. |

And nobody thought to chase the f*cker down? A crowd of people and nobody can chase down a drunken Mexican guy. Pathetic.

yes, white people never drink and drive...or flee the scene of an accident. And if he looked Mexican, he must be illegal. You should have shot him on sight.

A cute blonde woman did something much worse in Long Island a couple of years back. She was drunk and they wouldn't let her into a club, so she drove into the crowd in her SUV, injuring 16 people then fled the scene. Her friends hid her until she was sober and ultimately, she served 37 days in jail and became a media celebrity with her own TV show. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizzie_Grubman

Maybe he wasn't drunk, just shaken from the accident.
However, he was walking in wider and wider circles, looking concerned about his car, until he finally broke and ran. That was intentional. And yes, he was chased down. Most people would be concerned about their car and formulating a plausible excuse for the police when they inevitably arrived. The only people who run from accidents do so because they have committed another crime they don't want to be caught for (be it murder, DUI, or being here illegally). And based on where I was, my broad assumptions are rarely far from the mark.

I guess you have to kill someone for that though.

Imagine if we selectively enforced other felonies the way we do illegal immigration: "You hacked your family to bits...but you didn't pay your taxes? I don't want to deal with a non-tax payer...so I'm gonna let you go. Don't hack people to bits again, okay?"

It is an administrative crime like a speeding ticket. You might want to do some research.

A few years back I was with friends in in the parking lot of the San Jose flea market. We were pulling out of a space in his new Acura.
Some young mexican guy came flying around the corner at (least) 30+mph and T-boned us about 15 feet sideways. Thankfully the front wheel took most of it. He stands there ignoring us (kinda in a stupor) until security shows up and says there's nothing they can do because it's private property. "Call your insurance company". Takes his info and lets him go. Guy takes some papers out of the glove box, a stroller out of the back seat, and walks away. We reap(or mabye only some of us) what we sow. |

![]() Not sure what country you guys are from, but the notion that the police in the U.S.A. have no jurisdiction on private property is beyond laughable. Like if I kill someone, and it's in my house, (private property), no problem? Too late for this case I guess, but for anyone else reading this, call the freaking police if you are ever smashed into by a speeding car driven by a drunk no matter where it occurs.

Lizzie Grubman, (a disgusting person from what I can gather), is about as cute as a freshly laid turd and was already a "media celebrity" before that incident. Otherwise, why would her driving into a crowd be even known? (No one was killed or seriously maimed). She is the daughter of a famous lawyer, Alan Grubman, and that is her entire claim to fame/ meal ticket on this earth. I never heard the starter of this thread, (or anyone else for that matter), claim that non-Mexicans never drive drunk or flee accidents. It is a huge problem w/ illegals, (sorry about that insensitive word), so why does your knee jerk into some weird defensive mode whenever anyone has the gall to point this out? Do you deny that it's a problem when millions of people from a backwards, 3rd world country sneak across our border and start driving an $8.00 car around w/ no insurance? And that drunk driving doesn't have quite the same, shall we say, stigma attached to it in their native country? It's a real problem, and it will get worse, but it's a relative drop in the bucket in the large picture of the nightmare of uncontrolled illegal immigration in the U.S.A. That you deny the existence of a problem, or you do not consider the prospect of a U.S. population of 450 million people that is half Mexican or their immediate ancestors to be a problem suggests a level of denial that rivals the people who claim that Iraq is going "just great". Yes, our culture has its share of unsavory characters, like the Lizzie Grubmans of the world who are rich, entitled, and not very appealing, but why does that mitigate the wholesale importation of another country's people and problems on a permanent basis? I just find your apologies for the situation incomprehensible.
