From what I recall we have several eyewitnesses to Bill Clinton's cocaine problem, and none to the allegation of Bush having one...Clinton never sought help, still using...Bush has been sober for over 20 years.

That's not the important fact, it's being hoisted on his own petard that's the important fact. Like Terry Dolan, founder and prime mover behind National Conservative Political Action Committee (NCPAC), who died of AIDS, Limbaugh is a hardball kind of guy, who was arrested via a program he's been a strong advocate of for years.

Straight from his personal website:

Yup looks like the epitome of fitness to me. I am sure he is tight and lean like my doctor demanded.

Post it in a new thread and I'll tell you.

Of course we are. You support a president whose policies are the exact opposite of fiscal restraint conservatives, small government conservatives, and "big brother stay out of my private affairs" conservatives.
I think there is no doubt that the Democrats would be spending considerably more than Bush. This does not excuse Bush, but it illustrates any criticism Democrats have of Bush's spending are simply motivated by hate and founded in lies...Perhaps I am mistaken, but I haven't heard one Democrat pitch for spending cuts, in fact even moderate Democrats like Murtha want to increase spending.

Bush is a democrat-lite, or a moderate democrat, when it comes to spending.

I knew it was an Alfa, but which model? I've only ever seen the girly looking convertibles.

narrow, fragile world views bring out truly scary outlooks and fears.

Rush is at best a fallen hero. The man railed against drugs and drug addicts, then became one himself. I never heard him apologize for any of the hateful things he said before he succumbed to his demons. He is the poster child for hypocrisy.

Clinton was no choir boy. And to my mind his relationship with Monica was harassment as there is no "consent" in supervisor/subordinate relationships. And he should be held accountable for that any any other incidents.

But it never ceases to amaze me how some of you guys have the black/white goggle firmly loctited into place. Bush has issues too. Big ones. Rush is an unapologetic hypocrite. Coulter is a mean-spirited entertainer who will say anything outrageously conservative to make money. Al Franken does the same from the left, although he at least infuses some humor into it. And the Kennedys...well, enough has been said about them.

The sooner that the blinders come off, the sooner we might actually move the country forward.

lendaddy 07-06-2006 05:36 PM

Oh my Jim, I got on Ebay to find cars like that and that actual one is for sale!
Alfa

nostatic 07-06-2006 05:39 PM

I beg to differ on that. We are accountable for our actions. If a subordinate is willing and wanting it, I view that as consent.

When it isn't consent is when it's expected in return for continued employment. I honestly don't see this to be the case in this situation......

nostatic 07-06-2006 05:44 PM

Sorry, but we'll have to disagree. It is akin to sex with a minor: a minor cannot make a properly informed decision, thus there is no proper consent.

The supervisor/subordinate relationship is somewhat similar. No matter what "free will" is involved, there is always a question of how the dynamic affects the decision.

Bottom line: don't ***** where you eat...

cool_chick 07-06-2006 05:46 PM

I don't plan on screwing my boss. But if I want to, it's my decision, and I'm accountable for it. I wouldn't view me as some sort of victim there.......

Moneyguy1 07-06-2006 05:48 PM

The blinders will never come off. Some enjoy the hate and derision too much to let it go. Some are pseudo patriots who hate reason and hide behind their strange logic, acting in false indignity when someone suggests an alternative or has an opposing idea. Left, right, both extremes are guilty of tearing the fabric of the country apart just to feed their need for recognition. They contribute nothing to the general good.

We are becoming a nation of idolators, concentrating on the individual and not the society as a whole. Cults of personality, imbuing our heroes with superhuman attributes rather than recognizing them for what they are...flawed, imperfect. In other words, human. We demonize others at the expense of society. Words instead of deeds, promises instead of action.

When will it end? As long as people prefer humiliating others and exhibiting false anger to truth and examining possible solutions to the real problems that face this country it will continue.

lendaddy 07-06-2006 05:49 PM

When one is a lowely intern and the other is thee most powerful man in the world......one can assume some unique dynamics where "choice" may not mean what it usually does.

You're not 20 year old and your boss is not the President of the United States.

You are both right. It's bad policy and many times is not "consensual" in the true sense of the word. OTOH, grown-ups can make their own decision.

But I say if you are the boss and a subordinate claims she was taken advantage of, the deck is stacked against you, and should be.

Moneyguy1 07-06-2006 05:56 PM

One can always take the moral high road and say "no" if your dignity is more important than a job.
