Ann Arbor
![]() Thats funny, why wouldn't they premier the film in, say, Grand Rapids? Of course the uber liberal a55wipes in Ann Arbor will be falling all over themselves to say how great it was. This coming from a liberal who was raised in Ann Arbor.

No, but I have seen some specials on Discovery and other such channels. What bothers me is even if, as some say, the current change is part of a natural cycle, ae we not assisting that natural cycle by doing what we are doing?
I will probably rent it when it comes to the local store, only to be able to speak intelligently about it. (Seems that too many people automatically condemn something without first experiencing it)

I might actually see that one but I think I'll wait till it comes out on DVD.
I still can't bring myself to watch Farenheit 911 though...I think that movie and Brokeback Mountain I will just have to live without.

RIck:
I have seen F911. It really isn't all that good, nor informative. THe other, well, I can do without as well. The subject matter does not bother me as much as the exploitation of same. mul..Why do you dismiss things out of hand so easily? The best way to win a debate is to know as much as possible about the opposition's arguments. Without that knowledge, you run the risk of looking like a fool. Any highschool debater will tell you that.

I'm sure i'll rent it or catch it on Lifetime™ in a couple years, but just for laughs. Heck I actually saw F9/11 in the theatre on opening night. Gotta keep track of the nutballs you know.

I visited Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska last year. History shows rapid retreat of the glaciers in the 1700s - 1800's. Must have been caused by all those SUVs the Eskimos were driving back then.

Let's not let science get in the way of a heartfelt belief here, folks. Global warming has become one of many religions of the left, and Al Gore has become one of their prophets.
Gore joins the ranks of the ever relevent Moore, Mapes, and Rather. Just make it up as you go, scream it loud enough, and sure enough the "intellectually elite" left will follow like sheep. It's trendy, after all, this global warming thing. You have to be able to discuss it at the espresso bars and cocktail parties and, if you dissagree with the party line, why then, you must be an idiot. Or worse, a redneck. Just pretend you understand and go along. Maybe join a march or a demonstration if you are really into it. BTW, I love the irony in the title. The truth has been rather inconvenient for the left in most cases, now hasn't it?

The left would have you believe that Robert Carter is being paid off by Bush. Put on your tin foil hats.

This must be caused by the Bush administration policies too. Bill Clinton will be making a press statement on this any day now.

I do not buy into all the hype, but I do believe that Denial is not just a river in Africa.
The subject needs objective analysis. It has been proven that scientists are no different than other disciplines. They attack when someone proposes a different theory; one that does not fit with currently accepted ideas. Plate tectonics is a case in point; only one of many. Most geologists initially dismissed it out of hand. Is it a good idea to reduce carbon emissions anyway? Should the US actively persue the ideas of solar and wind power like China and India and some European countries are doing? Was it a bad idea to reduce tailpipe NOx? No simple answers, just those who, once again, dismiss out of hand because the proposed theories do not fit their current thinking.

I actually paid good money for the book, and what a waste. I did it so I could give an informed critique. I'm offering a critique here so I can get a little more for my money.
The book is about an inch thick and takes about an hour to read. 90% of it is pictures of melting glaciers, flooded cities, and deserts with boats. He has two full pages showing satellite images of each of the hurricanes from last year. He uses imagery, not facts, to "prove" his point. Apparently, he found the real truths to be too inconvenient to put in the book. For someone of his stature, who can command a large audience, you'd think that, with help, he could at least present a credible argument. The fact that he comes far from doing that, leads me to doubt his assertions all the more. Good work, 914GT; those two links you posted are must reading. I've read pretty much the same thing by other climatologists.
