MP3s from CD Software
What program do you guys use to convert your CDs to MP3s? I'd prefer Freeware or Shareware cause I know they are out there. I have some CDs in my car changer that I want to put on my MP3 player so I can listen to them in the other car without moving CDs around all the time. Any ideas?

CDEX. It's free. Uses CDDB to download track titles... just set some stuff in the options... bitrate and where to save the files... and BAM. It's easy to use.

Thanks! I downloaded it and got one CD converted to .wav files and compressed it. But how do I get it to a MP3 now?

There's several buttons on the righthand side... one rips to .wav... one rips to compressed audio... THAT is the one that will do it directly to MP3

I think that you can also use RealPlayer to go directly from CDs to MP3s.

First off, I'm a Mac user. You can open a CD with Widows Media Player and use the save as button under the file tabe to save as mp3. when you save it save it above 140dB.

Thanks again Matt! I had to change a setting under options but after that it works GREAT!!! Now I'm in business!
![]() I didn't try Realplayer so I don't know if that works or not. I used to use the old version of Winamp to make .wav files then I had to compress them and lastly convert them to .mp3s. What a hassle! This program Matt told me about is pretty slick!

"Exact Audio Copy". Just set it up and then start cycling through your CD collection. It starts the conversion when you put in CD.

step-by-step-by-memory. This should get you close to using Windows Meda Player. 1.Place CD in drive, open up Window Media Player, and highlight the song/songs you want to convert. 2. Click on file, then save as. A new window will pop-up. 3. At the bottom of the new window is a box "save as type" 4. In this box, click mp3 and then click save. I hope this helps with Winders. But my best advice is get a MacBook!!!
