It is the laugh of the blissfully ignorant, then. There is no *absolute* scientific expertise, so yours is a straw man argument. I suspect you knew that already.

Whenever one of these anti-evolution threads come up, I simply have one challenge to pose:

If you think the theory of evolution is so obviously flawed, then prove it wrong. It must be easy, right? Knock yourself out.

If you can't, then stop throwing stones. It is easy to criticize things you don't know about (that applies to Mul in these threads). If you have a genuine challenge to the theory of evolution, bring it on. I'm sure modern science would love to re-write the textbooks based on your brilliant observations.

The Catholic Church also believes in a burning hell for the wicked, the trinity, infant baptism, a clergy class, Mary was a virgin her whole life, etc...

What do you expect?

At least some of us are trying to use the brains God gave us instead of throwing up our hands and letting the JW's tell us how to think.

And of course those of us that are in the scientific biz understand that there are no absolutes and I have no super-knowledge. There are simply theories that data either supports or disproves. And that body of knowledge changes daily. Funny thing about exercising and expanding your mind...you become open to all sorts of options. And become a lot less vested in a particular "truth."

Careful with that assumption, Eugene...

Apologies to Syd.

I've heard this "straw man" thing here off and on. What is that?

Bottom line is: nothing comes about by chance.

Certainly not life and the single most complicated item known to man. The brain.

Just say you don't believe in God and be done with it.

To the best of my knowledge, the super-scientsts are only good at one thing: killing people.

They know weapons, I give you that.

People are running around in circles... without a clue.

You assume that the "links" do not evolve themselves. But they do, in random and unpredictable directions. So what became of the proto-sapiens? They vanished or evolved into something entirely different.

Remember, using bacteria with a 30 minute generation time evolution is a demonstrable fact. How it applies to the origin of our species and others is the question we may speculate about. You want to deny evolution itself? You are sadly late to the party.

Then I assume you never took any medication, used a computer, drove a car...common boy... the internet you are using right now wasn`t a creation from God, you saw it be created. Idiotic statements like yours do not help your cause at all. Instead, try to answer the following question: How do you reconcile the findings of science, such as for instance, the fact that the world is more than 5000 years old, and the Bible teachings? I give you a clue: I am a scientist, and I beleive in God. So it can be done. Now, you tell me how.

There is a huge differance between creationism and belief in creation.

Creationism will tell you the earth and everything you see on it was created in 7 days. Total falsehood.

That is not what the bible teaches.
the term "day" is not limited to a 24 hour "man" day.

"common boy"?
Is that what scientists call all the disposable people of the earth you smarties like to experiment on?

Bring in some more "common boys"...

Killing me...:p

Sounds like a VERY nervous person to me.

trekkor 07-23-2006 05:25 PM

I apologize for saying scientists only produce death. That wasn't fair.

However I will stand firm in stating that nearly every modern "convenience " we enjoy had it's beggining with a military application.

Nope, I'm not nervous at all.

I know what's coming next.

You are to me a like a little boy who does not know much and constantly needs to seek the support of his daddy that he calls God. This God is my daddy as well, and that makes you my brother. But, like a little brother, you still have to go to school and keep learning before you may participate in adult discussions. ;)

Why on earth are we discussing this again? There was a thread on this EXACT TOPIC less than a month ago....

I'm sitting this one out, I have no desire to rehash all the arguments we just had a month ago.

That's goddamn right; it was Al Gore.

Matthew 18:3- “Truly I say to YOU, Unless YOU turn around and become as young children, YOU will by no means enter into the kingdom of the heavens. "

True enough...

However I must point out that most of the political threads are the same thing over and over.

Just replace who's against who and come to no solution to your arguements...Same story for 1000's of years.

What's it going to take?

From what I've seen, science doesn't give "we don't know" answers.
They would lose face and credibility.

They will always give an answer ( with authority ). Then change it as required.

Why do we die? "we don't know"
How does the brain work? "we don't know"
Where did we come from? "we don't know"

Of course they have "the answers"...

Thanks to Nostatic and Snowman for being thought-provoking instead of incendiary.
