Reckless driver in the neighborhood

My neighbor down the street drives a beige Chevy Surburban. Everytime when he passes by our street, he accelerate his big truck full throttle, brake and make left turn onto other street. When he is back turning into the street, he would turn into other side of the street at full speed. My children sometimes are playing in the street. We feel our physical safety is threaten. The neighbor is not the type you can go ring the door bell and talk to. Our gated community security officer actually toll me he is afraid to get near that house. They are just so mean. What step should I take?

Video. A picture is worth a thousand days; it's considered Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

I have three in three years. The video takes away the element of doubt in the mind of judge and jury.

Call either the homeowners assocation or the local police. I had this very same problem with some ricer kid a few years ago. Calmly talking to him did not help. A visit from the Sheriff changed his habits real quick.

If you can videotape him doing it, even better

talk this, video that. Pshaw!

Poison tipped blow gun darts. Use a nice neurotoxin. Then sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet...

Ill 2nd the video tape - but then again, I am like robin williams on the "the World According to Garp" - yes, I have actually gotten in my truck and followed people out of the neighborhood and stepped in the middle of the street.

We set up a neighborhood watch program (for other reasons than to go after speeders in the area). Being a rep. for the neighborhood does tend to get faster action from our police department than if you're just another crank who wants everyone to slow down. They know your name, they've met you when you set the program up, etc.

Alternatively, the guy probably really likes his car - it would be a shame if there were a puddle of black paint or grease on the street, just waiting to whip up on his fenders when he goes through it too fast. He might even find an alternate route.

Every neighborhood should have someone patrolling with one of these!

Just pray HE doesn't get one first!!!

Get the security company to get a bigger meaner security officer to talk with the neighbor, after all that is what your gated community is paying the security company for.

Stand behind a tree and throw a child sized tailors dummy in front of his car, or even better a pram full of large dolls into his path oughta do it. From the screaming hysterical wife of course

I am a mild mannered person, but when it comes to any child's safety (particularly my own) I will take any and all action necessary to put a quick stop to the danger--period!

If you go to this person's door and clearly state your concern, he will know you are not kidding around. Tell him you feel your children's safety is at stake and you will take any action necessary to stop it from happening ever again. Make it clear that you are there to insure your children's safety and not to start a personal beef. That will give him a way to back down without losing too much face.

If it ever happens again, give the police his address and license number and demand they address the problem immediately. Moreover, make sure the police know you want to speak with the officer that goes to the house to get his or her assurance that the situation is handled.

If that fails, get a big BIG gun and tell him you have a bullet with his name on it if an incident ever does occur.

I have the same problem. A$$clown in a Tahoe floors it from his driveway to the end of our street, maybe 500 ft. Buwaaaaaaaaaaa!! It's not just the guy, though. His wife and daughter do the same thing. If I am out in the driveway they goes slow. I gave him the death stare a few weeks ago. That might have changed his tune a bit. The other neighbors complain about him as well but they tell me he's got a temper. Pfffft! Temper, my a$$!!!!!! The local PD has had runins with him on other things so I figure his time should come up pretty quick.

Our kids don't play in the front so I am not so concerned for my own. There are others that ride bikes and walk down the street.

We had a family in our neighborhood everyone affectionately refered to as the "Bundys" (Married with Children). On top of their many simply annoying and disgusting habits, pop and son built a tube-frame VW powered dune buggy. They hot-rodded up and down our dead end for all of about two laps, kids in the street and everything, before I tossed their aluminum ladder out in front of them. They creamed it, and in trying to avoid it, careened into the curb hard enough to bust a front spindle. The old man came running into my front yard looking a little upset, and landed flat on his back after a well-placed left hook. I lifted his upper body about a foot off the ground (by his throat) and calmly explained that if he ever hit my kids, or any kids for that matter, he better call 911, because I wasn't planning to... I think he understood. I never had another lick of trouble with him. Now while I certainly would not recommend this approach, it did work for me. I was communicating on about the only level he understood.
