KS sucks. lived in salina for 13 years, went back a year ago to watch the Global Flyer.
Go south of Alma, NE a couple of miles and it seems like you enter some third-world country when you hit northern KS. edit: sorry, that was a bit harsh. It's not as bad as arkansas or oklahoma.

I guess I'll never have to worry about overpopulation.

I'm sorry, but I haven't seen a single post as to why anyone hates the state.

oh, Kansas. One of the "fly over" states. Or as I like to call it, the east coast.
Well, everything east of I15 (sometimes the I5) is the east coast to me. It's a wide coast... |

Doh! This could get ugly.
Ok, the good: Cheap, cheap, cheap, especially after seeing what you guys in So Cal pay. Plenty of decent jobs. Nice people. Distinct seasons (yes I actually like a summer and a winter). Very little traffic. Morals are still important (not a blue state ![]() The Bad: Mostly blah scenery, though if you know where to look there are some hidden jewels. Very few twisty roads! Some people still stuck in the 1800s. Hard to find foreign car parts. Windy. No mountains.

For what I do, I suspect there's 10-30 jobs in the whole state.

Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist church - a reasonable reason for hating Kansas.
Even Dorothy and the f'n dog left......... |

Total change of subject, but how in the hell do the Baptists allow themselves to be associated with Phelps? I thought they were still a semi-respected religion.

You can't HATE Kansas...it's just different.
Let's see, things to admire: You can see absolutely nothing for MILES, especially from highway the over passes. Great big silos...lot's of great big silos, which are really visible, especially from the over passes. Clouds look big, especially from the... We did enjoy or stay...even stopped at Fort Hays which we could see, well, for MILES. The Hays City Map and Hospitality Guide, which I am am gzing lovingly upon as I type (my wife loves to collect this stuff) proudly proclaims: "Small Town Charm, Big Time Fun!" How can you not like that?

True, it's not the most scenic state, and you can see for miles. That's actually one of the things I like about this state. I can see miles and miles of beautiful green landscape from my office window. And when the storms roll in from the west, it really can be a spectacular show from my desk.
