Question Anybody subscribe to Excellence magazine?

My brother-in-law saw a review of Excellence Magazine about Porsche and thought I should subscribe.
Has anybody read it enough to know if its more informative than Christo or Pano?
Is it worth the $20-30 for 9 issues a year?

I've subscribed for years I think it's worth it.

I've subscribed off and on, mostly on, since the first issue. I think it gives another perspective than Pano, and it has the Bruce Anderson market analysis from time to time, some folks like him, others don't.

Overall, I'd say subscribe for a couple of years.

I like it and look forward to the next issue. Check the 914 in this months issue. That thing is just too cool. Almost over the top, but not quite!

I subscribe but feel that Total 911, GT Purely Porsche and 911 and Porsche World are better magazines. They are more about the cars and less about advertising.
I know adverts keep the magazine alive but jeez.

I like Excellence. I got bored with 911 and Porsche world, GT Purely Porsche has incredible photography, and I haven't spent much time with Total 911. Again, my preference is for Excellence. I think they are $5 an issue which would amount to $60 a year. So at 1/2-2/3 the newstand price for the subscription, I'd say do it. But I agree, it may be best to pick up an issue or two at Barnes & Noble to see if you like it.

I get it - lots of pretty pictures. There is a bias towards reviews of newer cars, unobtainum RUF and other tuner mods. But then they surprise you with some really cool R-Gruppe and restoration stuff. Here are a few sample table of contents:

I bought a 2-year subscription to Excellence on Amazon.com. Sorry- don't remember what I paid but I saved quite a bit. I also have a subscription to 911 & Porsche World, which is pretty good.

Cheers,

Paul.

I have been subscribed for a little over 2 years. I think it is a great magazine, has a nice mix of street/custom/racing cars. I have seen at least 4-5 cars in articles that were done by people working out of their own garages that I thought (wow, that is a NICE car...maybe I can do that).

Plus the market updates are nice to keep up with prices. Their classifieds are always pretty inflated though.

I like excellence but did not renew when my subscription ended..I am not really interested in watercooled 911 stuff and the focus seems more and more (and logically so now that we are in the second full generation of watercooled 911s) on newer cars.

Actually, the only car rag I still subscribe to is Grassroots Motorsports.

Great magazine. Another good one I have not seen mentioned is the relatively new British publication, "Total 911". Great magazine that continues to improve with every issue.

I like Excellence. It actually has articles on the "other" Porsches. Heck, last issues article on pulling the A/C from a 944 served as an invaluable guide when I decided to pull the A/C from my car during an alternator rebuilt.

No such thing as a perfect porsche magazine, but Excellence is one of the top 3. It is worth subscribing to.

I actually like it. Even the articles that I don't think I'll like end up being entertaining (like the recent 906 article). And heck, they even printed an article I wrote years ago (check out the October 1994 issue!).
