I can't figure it out. Bush is as dumb as a stump, an ape-like mentality at best ... according to the Bush-haters. Bush is also the mastermind of a series of intricate worldwide plots, hoaxes, media-manipulations, moneymaking schemes, and conspiracies .... according to the Bush-haters.

There are those who indeed "hate" Bush. They are dead wrong and attack the messenger, rather than the message.

The individual should always be considered separate from the act.

Much of what you state could be possibly true, and if so, could be said of any administration. There is more than the President to be considered, one must also look at those who advise. They also have agendas, and some have considerable influence.

The biggest flaw in the story is the notion "they" were going to "strike" on August 16. When busted the week before, only one had an airline ticket and most didn't have passports.

At least, that's what's been reported.

Anyway, believing that these Pakis or the warehouse guys in Miami were any kind of a real "terror threat" takes incredible gullibility. Or maybe just a loose-fitting tinfoil hat.

Could be. There's a big gap between talking about doing something and actually creating an operational plan. The Brit press has less of a lapdog mentality than the US press, so I imagine the truth will eventually come out.

At the news conference, Susan Hemming, head of the Crown Prosecution Service Counter Terrorism Division, said she had been working with Scotland Yard officers for the past eight days.

"We have been carefully examining and assessing the evidence against each individual with the assistance of anti-terrorist officers in order to come to charging decisions at the earliest practicable opportunity."

She added that the position of the 11 people still in custody would be "assessed on a regular basis".

"We cannot yet make a decision about whether further charges will follow or if a further application for detention will be made on Wednesday, as the evidential picture is continuously developing."

An article posted last Thursday in the British online outlet The Register raises a very good question I haven't seen posed anywhere else, certainly not in our sycophantic American media: was the exposed British "plot" to bring down commercial airliners by mixing harmless household chemicals in the lavatory even remotely possible from the standpoint of basic chemistry?

I really would not doubt the fact that policians do create "disasters" to further their own aims. History has many, many examples.
