Anyone ever use an e-ticket?!?!?!

Obviously it has been a long time since I flew. My wife and I are heading down to South Carolina on Sunday to pick up a car (non porsche). Got the tickets on travelocity. They are e-tickets!
Do I just walk up to the counter and present id? It feels strange going to the airport with no ticket in hand.
The last plane trip I took was 12 years ago.

you can either do it at the counter, or there will be a little computer terminal atm-ish thing that you do it on. It's easy. Every time I've done it, there was an attendant next to the machine to make sure I did it correctly.

What airline?

You can often print the boarding pass at home before you go. If it is Southwest, it is imperative you print 24 hours in advance to get an A group boarding pass.

Otherwise, take a copy of your confirmation with you. You'll need a boarding pass to get through security, so get them either at the counter or kiosk.

e-tickets are a piece of cake.

Just go to the airport and check in. Suckers wait in line to check bags. Everyone else uses the automated kiosk. Gate-check bags if necessary.

With AA you can check-in online at home and print your boarding pass 24 hours in advance. Even if you have luggage to check, still do this and then a self-serve kiosk to check your bags (shorter lines).

Get up to date with the current TSA policies on carry-on fluids. For example, you can have <4oz of non-prescription stuff now - like contact lens solution.

they have little touch screen kiosks at the counter. Just type in your confirmation code and you're all set. If you arent checking any bags it takes 30 seconds. I've never had to wait in line for one either.

Use them 100% - its the only way to fly. Curb side check in will help you avoid the lines at check in. Make sure you slide the guy a few bucks as a tip. Some airports actually charge for curb side while others don't. Some airports also have a self check in that also allows you to check your seat and even change it. Of course, if you have bags to check you will still need to go the the ticket counter to have your bags checked but it can shorten check in time as well.

Wear slip on shoes and clean hole free socks - you will have to taken them off.

E-ticket is the only way to go.

Look for the self check in kiosk area to electronically check in.

Make sure it's the right one (checking bags or not checking bags)

Swipe your credit card for verification, indicate the number of bags, get your boarding pass, wait for the person to call your name to put the label on your bag, take it to the screeners. It's 5 minutes.

Paper ticket with checking bags is when you have to wait in line. Waste!

Luber, try the self check in next time.....skip those lines...5 minutes total...

It does feel weird when I leave on a business trip with nothing but an itinerary. No tickets, nothing. It all works, though.

Strap a bunch of water bottles to your chest with duct tape and you'll get through security more quickly. :>)

That's how it works in Los Angeles also...

On recent trip to Hawaii for the family reunion we had E tickets so I crammed everything into two carry ons... but my parents had a load of luggage so we had to stand in line anyway.

Yea the good old days. The last time our plane had some problems when we landed to refuel in Cape Verde. We were escorted tp the "airport" by soldiers. Weapons drawn and the whole deal. Though it would be better when we got back to the States, but a security guard pulled his gun on me at Dulles. I must have one of those faces.
