Made it home in my "new" car (WARNING:NOT A PORSCHE)

We left Greenville, SC yesterday at 8:00 am and arrived back in Michigan at 11:30 pm. There was some pretty serious rain along the way. I mean, there were animals lining up in two's. A couple of accidents slowed down traffic as well.
Anyway, thanks for all the advice on getting the car homw. We ended up staying Sunday in Greenville and looking at the sites. It is a very nice city BTW. Got a 30 day permit and temporary plates Monday morning. I seriously considered driving back with no plates, but after speaking to the officer in Ohio I did not want to chance it.

This is the car. It is 1999 Mercedes Benz SLK 230 with an AMG styling package. Sports edition. Bought it with 48,200 miles on it. It is a fun little car. A little bit of prep. No 911 though that is for sure. It is nice to have a convertible though. It was sunny for the first 3 hours of the trip yesterday. Driving those winding roads in the Smokey Mountains were a lot of fun.

Congrats. Nice car, and staying until Monday to do it right was the best way to do it.

Now all you have to do is get the dawg pee off of the right rear wheel before it stains it.

Very nice. . . I've been contemplating (among other things) a 280SLK for some time, but keep coming to the conclusion that I hate car payments. . .

Love the MBs though. Enjoy it!

Nice ride! Enjoy! The SLK's my favorite "not that far out of my reach" choice of Benz's.

Mind me asking what you paid for the car? My sister in law is looking at used boxsters and would probably like the 230 as well.

The dog is a she. No peeing on the tires. One of the benefits of having a female dog.
I am really glad I waited until Monday to get the temporary plates. I would just have been too stressed out if I had driven home without them. Besides my wife and I got to enjoy a day in a fun city. It was a short but fun getaway.
