i think you should empower sombody to take executive action, next time you get blurry vision...

for a small monthly fee , i am willing to take on that responsibility, and make sure that you get fed obscenely drunk at the first sign of trouble, and end up in a stripclub of high standards, to "offload" any mistaken puppylove sentiments, before it's too late.

look at it as an insurance
and even if it fails , at least you'll have been fed drunk and dumped in the skillfull hands of a quality stripper... that's more then you can expect from any other insurance...

This is very true. Some couples who start young can weather the storm(s) of learning compromise and establishing boundaries as the relationship grows and changes. Others don't...(insert "D"-word here)

I adore my wife, my children, and my time with them. I consider myself an extremely involved husband and father...why wouldn't I - I'd be NOTHING without them! Yet, men are different. We do need time to cut loose and behave as (trustworhty and faithful) Neanderthals! In many respects, this is true for woman, too...they just smell better and look prettier. It's taken awhile for my wife to accept that this isn't personal...just biology, I guess. She's come a long way in understanding that me wanting a few hours here and there to listen to music with my buddies, or grab a concert at a dingy venue, or meet the Porsche guys early in the morning for a cup of joe is just me being me. A happy her and a happy me is what makes this a happy marriage.

Whenever possible, I always try to take one or both of our kids with me. I try to work on my car or other projects late in the evening or early in the morning, so that I'm not really missed. I encourage her to use the time when I'm away, for her to hang with her buds. I always try to keep to the time I say I'll be home. I call her to check in (she doesn't ask me to, I just do it). I try to avoid getting stoopid drunk and it never hurts to say "thanks for understanding" or surprising her with a small gift that let's her know that I was thinking about her even though I was away.

Just try to keep it fair...don't be running off all the time without allowing her the same courtesy.

HANG IN THERE, but you do need your time and you are entitled to it.

You need a 12 step recovery program. Step 1? Vasectomy. If you're happy with your 4 kids, take reproduction out of the equation. Think of it as damage control for any future romantic train wrecks.

Every spring, I print out all of the autox dates in my area. I put them all on the calendar and my wife expects me to go to them. (She figures, I bought the 911, it would be more of a crime for it to rot in the garage unused.)

On the flip side, if her mother is in town or if she plans a weekend getaway, I bag out of the autox.

Win-win, as far as we are concerned.

For the record, we have no kids.
