Gorilla Tape to replace Duct Tape?

From the makers of Gorilla Glue, we now have Gorilla Tape.

Has anyone given up their roll of Duct Tape for Gorilla Tape?

What do you like about it, what don't you like about it?

http://www.gorillatape.com/home.htm

Says it's based on "natual rubber" and UL tested. I cannot seem to find that UL listing number from my usual sources.

Duct tape used to be good, now it's thin and melts in the sun at the slightest provocation. I don't care what I pay for it or where I buy it from, the quality and the love is gone.

Eh, I've used the Gorilla Glue and I wasn't that impressed.

The glue might be styrene based, it gets hard and cracks. S

ome people like to use it with rigid insulation boards. I did not like it.

From what I've read the tape has nothing in common with the glue. I could be wrong, rather to talk to someone who has used it.

If everyone in America buys a $10 or $15 roll of the tape they will get rich off of us. I don't like that idea if it's a poor product.

I've pretty much replaced duct tape with 'Tyvek Tape'. This stuff is made for sealing housewrap and windows. It's a thin cellophane-like tape but sticks like crazy, even when wet. About $11 a roll.

Yep, Curt is right1 I use Tyvek tape on anything and it even sticks to wet hoses (pool PVC hose) and yard projects. It sticks to brick, masonry, PVC, fabric... great stuff!

I used a small roll of "emergency water hose repair tape" (black - $4.00) on a plastic air intake for my other car. I liked it very much, but it was half the width of duct tape and you got very little in a roll. Designed to hold even when wet and hot; I wish I could find a cheap source for it.

Duct tape is like the force - there is a light side, and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

If you are finding problems with modern silvery duct tape, check out some gaffer's tape - theater geeks use it, like the old duct tape, sticky as heck, good cloth backing, etc.

Great for a bumper sticker, just don't make it out of Duct Tape or it will melt off after several hot sunny afternoons.

I don't like Gorilla glue. It expands too much as it dries, end up with rock-hard squeezed out blobs of glue even though you wiped the joint clean after applying.

I prefer stuff called "Tuck Tape"... used to seal vapour barriers, etc. Sticky as hell, wet or dry, and is very strong.

Came in VERY handy when the car got smacked by a deer... held the front-right quarter panel together for over 3,000 miles. Held the front splitter and bumper in place when the main connection point got busted.

Tried replacing it with colour-matching duct tape later on, but it was slipping too much at speed (the front splitter was being pulled down), so reverted back.

I never leave home without a roll of it in the car or truck now.

Looks to be a double sided tape, is it?

There is a double sided roofing tape called EternaBond but it loses strength with heat. Becomes like gum on a hot sidewalk and ends up everywhere.
