What should I use to cover my workbench?
I've got an 96" by 24" peice of 14 guage steel I'm putting over my workbench surface and was thinking of either getting it galvanized (dipped) or maybe a pickup bed liner sprayed on it, possibly leave it bare metal or paint it. Any ideas, suggestions or experience with this?

bare metal. It'll be cheap to replace and it'll pick up that beaten up, "i did something," look to it.

Another vote for bare metal.
I used .040" gauge 2024-T6 aluminum sourced from our friendly Boeing Surplus yard. They also had titanium sheet which would have been really cool but it was cost prohibitive, even as surplus.

Keep it bare. Clean it with WD40 to keep it from rusting. Works great on bare kart parts.

Bare, so you can weld on bending forms, thread in holding brackets, etc.. and just grind them off.

Try to find a pic of Widebody's work bench. He put a piece of copper (or was it brass?) on part of his bench. Really like the look of it and bet it conducts very well when welding...
