Jack, I know you can read and think.

It was his tactics that were unamerican. He did not have a list of names, only case numbers being investigated by the State Department. He had no proof, only wild accusations, and went on a witchhunt. That's as American as Salem. And I guess that's okay with some people, but not true Americans.

How about this one.
"Soon after receiving the chair to the Subcommittee on Investigations, McCarthy appointed Joseph Brown Matthews (generally known as J. B. Matthews) as staff director of the subcommittee. A fervent anti-communist, Matthews had formerly been staff director for the House Committee on Un-American Activities. Matthews combined his anti-Communism with a powerful dislike of the Protestant religion, and had recently written an article called "Reds and Our Churches"[26] which opened with the sentence "The largest single group supporting the Communist apparatus in the United States is composed of Protestant Clergymen.""

So you think this is exposing commies?

He most likely was. The commies as well as Muslim fanatics like to use religion to gain footholds. They have been very successful infiltrating our schools and universities.

Typical liberal (yes thats a dirty word), makes up a lie to cover for the lack of a good argument. I stated that the Clergymen, NOT Jesus, was likely a commie. Also noted that even you didn't attempt to deny that teachers and professors might be commies.

Also noted that even you didn't attempt to say anything about teachers and professors.

You guys have been bitching about 'liberal' teachers and professors for nigh on 50 years now, yet none of you conservative illuminati are willing take up the mantle and bring some conservatism to the profession.

Why is that?

Is it easier to just bitch about it and not actuall do anything?

It it just that the edcation profession is such a handy scapegoat for all the ills of your world, and it's too sweet of a gig to give up?

Scared?

Perhaps you tried and washed out?

the key is some see any liberal as a commie
tailgunner sure did
a more rational person would ask
how many real spys did the tailgunner find
I think not a single one

not counting people who were at a CP USA meeting once or twice as agents and spys 10 or more years later
but real spys
who had given real intel to the russians

note most of the people convicted in this mess
were the ones who refused to rat out others
for being at the meetings in the 1930s
or as part of some so call front group

so again the real question is did he get any real spys

Yeh I did the duck and cover crap. Wouldn't have helped much, but it would have been a lot better than doing nothing like the lefties constantly suggest. I also helped build a bunch of bomb shelters in the early 60's. My house had 2 1/2 foot thick, reinforced, concrete walls, so we didn't feel the need to build one of our own.

A lot of liberals are commies, more than not. And even the ones that are not are 90% of the way there.

Commies in universities is a long term commie plot, started back in the McCarthy era, progressing to about 90% of the professors today. I still remember the D I got in an english class, for opposing abortion, in 1967. That prof was definately a commie.

This post should make it into our OT Hall of Fame. Thanks for the chuckles, Jack.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. :>)

Jack - I didn't think people like you really existed. I always thought it was an over-blown stereotype. I guess I was wrong.

Yeah. It'd be funny if it weren't so frightening.

Snowman: if the majority of Americans voted in favor of something you thought was a "commie plot," then......aw, nevermind. I'm not afraid of communism. In my country, we have voting and democracy and stuff, and whatever the People decide.......is the law of the land. Whether you like it or not. Whether I like it or not.

We've had the discussion before, about Jesus' political orientation. We all know he was not a secular leader. He had no interest in politics or laws. His entire agenda focused sharply on what is in peoples' hearts. So, conservatives can pretend, since He didn't support any actual laws requiring Christian behavior, that He was a conservative. But in reality, Jesus was ALL ABOUT sharing. Pooling resources. And the simple observation that He supported personal freedoms is a concept that is as LIBERAL as I can imagine. That's where we got the word "liberal." Liberty. Everything about Jesus was liberal. Above, money is discussed. Perhaps you conservatives just have not gotten to those passages where Jesus discussed what should be done with money and other resources. Keep reading. Hint: He was not a big fan of notions like greed and survival-of-the-fittest. The cornerstone principles of capitalism.

NO doubt about it. Jesus was perhaps history's most rabid pinko.

I was booted out of High School study hall for reading a paperback. It's title: "Conscience of a Conservative" the author? Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater. You see, it was evidently NOT on the screw-all's approved reading list. The school principal confiscated the book. After school was out, I bought another copy, read it on my own time. Good reading...much better than the required liberal pap served up.
