BMW M3, Audi S4, M-B C32 AMG, et al...
Sub WRX STi, Mitsu Evo... Where will this thing fit in? It'll probably be the same smashing success that the Pfeffervagen was.

A CGT engine in a "reliable" family-type car? Don't think so.
Interesting though. Kinda' reminds me of the 928 for some reason. . .

I sure hope that's disguised beyond recognition. I'd hate to see that at a Porsche dealership.

![]() ![]() I think that's going to be a tough sell, for the same reason the Cayenne was a tough sell. It's hard to make your name as strictly a sports car company ffor 50 years, then try to break into already over-supplied markets, like SUVs and luxury 4 door sedans. I remember reading 20 years ago an interview with Ferdinand Porsche, he said it would be foolish for Porsche to try to compete with MB and BMW sedans. This car is going to be a tough sell, esp. since it looks like it will easily be outperformed, at least in the important lower range/higher volume model. It looks like it will be a big, heavy car. They are using a VW V6 with 300 hp. That hardly cuts it in today's market. Lexus IS, Lexus GS, etc. already put out a bit more than 300 hp with their 6 cylinders, and of course more with their 8 cylinder versions. This Porsche won't be out until around 2010, it sounds. By that time, 300 hp will be even more behind. How many people are going to want to pay $20K more for a VW engined Porsche over higher hp, higher performing competing sedans? It will be interesting to see what they price the VW engine version at. From the last reports, the big engined versions are going to be very expensive, around the $125K to $150K range. |

so its a 5-door hatchback. I love hatchbacks, but that one isn't terribly beautiful. I like the lines of the GTI a lot better, and if they made a 4-door hatch version of the scIROCo concept it would be a bit nicer. Hard to tell with a mule though...but it appears to be a big car. That is one nice thing about the golf/gti platform right now...it is a small car that has an incredible amount of room on the inside. When Denis and I were at Carmax today we looked at a bunch of Chrysler vehicles. All their wagons are way more claustrophobic than the VW, but bigger on the outside (and with cheezy interior materials by comparison).

those lights look like they're a disguise, being they give any car a "look" i'm sure porsche is keeping them under wraps until geneva.

I think it looks very disguised to me - the photos do show a very conventional looking family sedan.

Can't tell much beyond overall size.
Headlights have been disguised. Doors have been disguised ("dents" in leading edge are there so they can open doors w/o crunching the disguise). Rear has been disguised. Big spoiler is a disguise. All we're seeing is the roofline and maybe the hood and nose (though would be surprised if details of nose aren't faked too).

I hope it makes a lot of money for Porsche AG so they can spend it on developing real sports cars. Drivers cars. Light weight.
Maybe 911 should be a marque of its own. Like Corvette. Its probably good business for Porsche with all the models, but it kind of dilutes the Icon/Living Legend status of the 911. But then, I am just a simple doctor. What do I know about corporate business strategies..
