I sure hope the feds lighten up on the whole marijauna crusade in the next 25 years. Twenty five years ago, I thought it would have been decriminalized by now, but it seems things have gotten worse for the pot crowd. I wouldn't mind being able to snap a bong occasionally, after I retire.

Couldn't agree more with the points raised in the article. So, the question of the day is, how to disband the DEA. To answer that, we must first understand why it is there, and to answer that we must understand who profits from its existance. How much do we spend annually on this "war on drugs"? Who gets the proceeds?

Maybe if they focused on making the reality for so many folks less hellish, they'd be less inclined to "escape" to alternate states to make their existences more bearable. . .

I don't smoke pot. Never have. I also think most of the medicinal benefits of "herb therapy" can be achieved with traditional phamaceuticals that may have fewer health risks. Having said that, when the people of the state of California vote to legalize medicinal marijuana, the federal government has absolutely no right to interfere. Yet another abuse of power and waste of tax money.

I think Arnold should call the Cal National Guard back from Iraq to protect CA from invasion from the DEA.

Could the state of California legally arrest these federal agents? Imagine what might happen next...

That aint nothing. Hire a few farmworkers that dont wash after using the pooper and you will have G-Men coming down on you like you was a Tali-ban: SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, Calif. - The ongoing probe into the source of a nationwide E. coli outbreak linked to tainted spinach turned into a criminal investigation as federal agents raided two Salinas Valley produce companies. Agents from the FBI and the Food and Drug Administration's criminal investigations office executed search warrants Wednesday at the Natural Selection Foods LLC plant in San Juan Bautista and Growers Express in Salinas to see if they violated food safety and environmental laws. "We are investigating allegations that certain spinach growers and distributors may not have taken all necessary or appropriate steps to ensure that their spinach was safe before they were placed into interstate commerce," U.S. Attorney Kevin Ryan said.

I, Personally haven't touched the stuff, but my only question is how many people have died or killed someone else while under the influence of marijuana that it requires a blanket ban and compare that to the number of alcohol related deaths and comparative laws against alcohol possesion and consumption. Just something to chew on.

Being high on pot is nowhere near as debilitating to motor skills and judgement as being drunk. It arguable that stoned drivers are safer than drunk drivers. Stoned people are certainly less rowdy than drunk people; pot does not seem to have the same effect of lowering inhibitions as alcohol. No scientific data to back any of that up, just personal observation.

It is a federal offense to posses marijuana. It does not matter if you agrteec with the law or not. It does not mattrer if the bleeding heart hippies in California voted to allow it for "medicinal purposes" which is just a BS way to say go ahead. The federal law still exists and it is their responsibility to enforce it. I just wonder why they want to bust people in this country for pot instead of enforcing our immigration and smuggling laws at our southern border which would probably keep the pot from getting here in the first place.
