Any vintage stereo experts out there?

I know next to nothing about stereos and need some input. I have a NAD system my dad bought back in 1985. He gave it to me some years ago and it still works great! Good, clear sound and the CD player (cutting edge back then) has zero issues. Although the cassette player doesn't get much use now. I just wish he still had his reel to reel!

I'm looking to add another stereo in our new house. The house is wired for speakers and I'd like another vintage set to run those. I figure I'd find another set of NAD equipment since it's tried and true.

Anybody have any other recommendations? I prefer vintage stuff to new, and if the case is made of wood or steel I'd like to hear about it.

Accuphase. Great amps. Older ones can be had from time to time on ebay.

You'll probably need a speaker switch box that adds some resistance if you're running multiple pairs of speakers from one amp.

I love older Marantz equipment. Very solid.

Marantz on eBay or Craigslist (CA) has a bunch. Any pre 1980 model. I have several and like the 2285 the best. I also have a 2270 and 1550 that are powerhouses. The B models, like the 2238B are mostly silverface and are attractive.

I'm no expert but I do have a bunch of stero equipment left over from that era,

no longer used stuff
Phase linear- Pre amp, receiver , Akai-8 track recorder, reel to reel, SAE- power amp, Pioneer - Spec1 power amp

stuff used in the garage Panasonic -receiver

Generally the older stuff works ok but doesn't have the flexibility of connections and operation of the newer stuff

currently used(some only rarely)
Denon -reciever, Sony -cd player(x2), Yamaha-power amp, cassette recorder, Panasonic DVD player
