according to the Anderson book, it makes 158 lb ft of tq at 4000, and 190 hp at 6500.
That's for a correct number engine for the year (911/53) and is rated in DIN specs. |
THIS IS AMAZING..YOU GUYS STILL DONT GET IT..YOUR QUOTING BOOKS AGAIN!
OK
I AM DONE.. TAKE YOUR BOOKS DROP THEM OUT A SECOND STORY WINDOW A SEE WHO WINS.. (I KNOW,I KNOW GALILEO..32 FT/PS/PS).. ISNT IT BRUCE ANDERSON THAT HAS THE PRICES ON EARLY PORSCHES THAT ARE USUALLY WRONG! |
Well, lets see, who am I going to take as a more reputable source, a guy with one of the most well know and accepted publications in all of Porscedom, or some guy who advertises a 2.4S that goes 165 MPH?
Credibility difference between the two of you is 180 degrees. Anyway the question was simple...whats the stock rating.... Now, clearly yours is either not capable of the antics you state it is, or you don't have a 2.4S motor in the car as you stated in your eBay ad. Either way, it's bordering on fraudulent. |

Nobody gives a rats ass about that crap. The simple question here remains where is the truth? Is it REALLY capable, (and therefor NOT a 2.4S engine) or is it not capable of your outlandish claims. You made the claims, and now you're being called on it, but you refuse to back them up, except for playing some stupid schoolboy bet game. You said it can do this and that, but if you won't let someone SEE even part of the claim, without calling him a poser, then it seems to me (and I suspect the rest of the world) that YOU are the real poser. |
exec,
Your car is absolutely beautiful and I wouldn't hesitate buying it for one second. Someone will be buying an incredible car. It has some *really* nice options and looks to be very well maintained. The blue paint looks dynamite with the silver targa bar too. Good luck with the sale. |
I love it
There is no hate on this thread....
Its just good ole bantering......Just like at the track.. If you guys arent laughing when writing this stuff then you should be out driving and doing an attitude adjustment.... I just got back from a drive....and I am in a really good mood... I wasnt going 165,,,,but I broke the speed limit....does that count? and no one answered my "beating 930's in Autocrosses statement"..... Im almost disappointed... |

cant you just feel the love here? im telling you man ............malibuboy is a genius......a freeking genius! i mean he knows everyone, everything. i mean he can see right through men. he knows what there thinking by just looking at them! hes a GOD! "what are they going to say about him? he was a wise man? he had plans? he had wisdom? bull$h8t man! am i going to be the one to set them straight?" THE HORROR.................THE HORROR..............THE HORROR! LOL! from" apocalypse targa" the made for tv movie starring malibu boy and his trusty sidekick millie vanilliee co starring tom cruise hanging onto top of 911 targa (a la slim pickens in dr strangelove)as it attains terminal velocity above 165mph while beating 930 turbos. I WANT TO SEE THE TARGA RACE AND WHUUP A$$ ON A 930 1st-5th for the targa and 1st-4th for the TURBO. WFO (wide ******* open) straight stretch highway. as per your ad. this will achieve (2) very scientific data formulas................1) the turbo will go faster than your advertised "turbo killer" 2) you will have to find all of 8500RPM PLUS and then some, to even stay up. what is it like never to break down racing? what is it like to never crash into something-moveable or immoveable? whats it like to be the perfect all around race car driver and none of us have ever heard your name? whats it like to be the perfect pilot? whats it like not knowing the caps off button? whats it like not knowing how to spell? whats it like trying to bullsh*$ people around the world? |
I'm actually enjoying this trainwreck of a thread. Execmalibu, I have no way to doubt or support your claims. I'm not challenging you on them either. So this is in no way meant to come across as an attack.
Just a few points. I don't think dd74 was a "poser". He never had any intentions on purchasing the car from what I could tell. Initially, I think he was simply willing to volunteer to go for the ride to enable you to validate your claim for those doubters on the forum. You most certainly can decline the offer but I think at first he was trying to help resolve things. With all the emotion that has spewed forth over the past couple of days I'd think you would want to put the doubters to rest once and for all. Not only to validate your claim but also and more importantly to get some serious interest in the car. That is after all your goal behind all of this correct? Personally, I don't see how it would hurt. A few $100's can't mean more than your honor and your word. You've already wasted more time/money in responding on this thread than that. Heck, even some pictures of your cars or your trophies etc. would help in this regard. I think people would be very interested to hear what you have to say about your experiences once they "knew" you were legit. Unfortunately, in today's world people need to see some proof. It's really nothing personal. Your approach and style also make room for an element of doubt. You are right that you don't have to prove anything to anybody but if your car can do what you claim all would seem to agree that it's one special car that we would all love to hear more about. Have a good one... |
BD
I would like to see a picture of the BD-5J
I built one and would like to see which one it is...since there are not that many... What if you took a digital of the tach when it is at 8500... Kilodawg does have a point.... And Charles, the 930 I beat in the Autocross had nitros, which is only activated during the lag period...which kinda smooths out the ride.....But on the regular track HE FLYS! KILO Where you at in Florida? |

But as things have developed I now see you as one of the worst examples of Porsche ownership I have ever encountered. I was thinking about your car this morning, and going through my mind how I could possibly support your claim via gearing, tire diameter, and all else. Even after you refused to reveal the car to me on my half-day off unless I gave you $100 - mine or someone else's - if the car achieved 8,500 RPM, I still thought you were treated unfairly and should be given the benefit of the doubt. I even researched online some race car and specialty car sites on which you could present your car, hopeful that you'd have better luck there than on Ebay. But car aside, your attitude is such an abomination that even after my thoughts, research, and furthermore, the possibility I might know several people interested in a 1973 Targa, I would not in any way give you that information simply based on your callous, defensive/offensive assinine behavior to not just myself, but honored members of Pelican who have spent huge amounts of energy with cars like yours. You, in fact, are the type of owner who gives a horrible reputation to Porsche ownership and car enthusiasm in general. I've seen better behavior on anything from Miata to Ferrari boards. If you want to call me a poser, fine. I still have $100 bucks which surely won't go toward a sucker's bet such as what you reposted this to be. I could even buy your car right at this moment, strip the thing clean, take the gearbox, pick apart the mystery engine, and sell off the rest, but aura plays its role here, and yours is awful. So your car, dutifully observed, is probably awful as well. At this juncture, I'd rather spend my $100 on a track day where gentleman drive respected cars - not pieced together overpriced jalopies that are given claims that someone has to pay for to experience. You're a joke, execMalibu. I'm surprised you're even in Malibu - as the place does have some class - not much, but some. In the end, the only benefit from my involvement in this thread is that I've learned how not to behave if and when I want to sell my car. Gearing, engine hp., top speed, while all very interesting, give this thread only the slightest amount of legitimacy. Otherwise, what's written here is nothing more than mean-spirited and demeaning language - most of that coming from you. |
DD74,
Well said thanks for putting into words what I am guessing most people here are thinking. I tried in vain to make light of the situation yesterday. DD Kudos to you for telling it like it is and representing the community here with class and dignity. Flexing the old internet muscles is fun when its done in jest, this thread is beyond that in a big way... IMHO Howard |

DD74....well put.
I think what annoys me is that this car was clearly misrepresented in some way in a proposed business transaction, and the financial aspect was not inconsequential. It's one thing to brag a bit, and while I find those that engage in that sort of behavior distasteful, it's quite another when you do it as part of a business arrangement. |
I think I know what makes his car go fast......
He's got a big exhaust..... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160678473.jpg Muhahahahaha! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160678499.gif |
It wouldn't be the first Porsche that was misrepresented if that is the case.
I'm assuming that anyone who could come up with the reserve figure would also ask for a demo on the car. If I could buy it, I certainly would ask for that. Then the rubber would meet the road as they say. For that matter it/they (car's capabilities) are only important to the person who can buy it. Regardless of what one thinks, this car has gotten it's share of notoriety with the posting. If it is the real thing (73S Targa), I'm not sure that the next owner would see the top end performance as the most important characteristic of the car. Better call in mythbusters!:p |
different numbers
CS119laCoS, I looked up the numbers for his motor and found that his motor ran 190hp (from a porsche pub) and some publications listed it as 210 I cant remember what the rpm was but I do remember the HP number.
YOU GUYS HAVE FUN NOW.....AND NO FIGHTING.....JUST DRIVING And the car looks like a poodle that just got pumped by a Great Dane... |

I did find a curve but it stopped well short of 8500. It was dropping past peak, and was about 184 at 7000. |

Devils Advocate
We all agree that the motor is not stock.....
And going with the stock number ...using the highest of the 2 I found.... It would not be unrealistic to assume this motor is pumping out over 250 hp on a lightweight chassis..... Therefore even if you did find a curve it wouldnt apply because it would not apply to his car. .... Thats fair.....give him that atleast... Has anyone asked Jack Olsen if he can outrun a 930 in his lightweight 3.8 powered monster....Hmmmmm Im curious.. KILODAWG where are you at in FL. |
