Hell, I could probably share some of the stories from my youth involving model rockets and chemistry sets, but it'd probably land me on a blacklist with Dep't of Homeland Moneywasting or something.

Sounds like a bunch of us had similar growing-up years.

One of my mother's biggest rules was: "No bleeding on the carpet! If you boys are going to bleed, you need to go outside!"

Did you ever buy The Anarchists Cookbook? Went out of print like 20 times.

Ah yeah, the good ol' days. Playing by the river, riding bikes, minibikes, motorcycles, horses, shooting BB guns, pellet guns, rifles, shotguns, throwing rocks, walnuts, darts, rat traps, seeing how high we could jump out of a tree without breaking something, staying the hell away from that crazy portagee Louie, fishing, hunting,
I knew Louie...good you got away!

Growing up in California in the 60's and 70's was amazing...both north and south.

Hanging onto the rear bumper of a NYC bus while it pulled you through
the packed snow on the streets. Just had to watch out for the bare pavement. Making go cart out of old baby carrige wheels and some scrap lumber and a piece of rope to steer it. Riding down a steep street and nailing a parked car along the way!
Shooting each other with homemade carpet guns.

Kids just dont know how to have fun anymore!

I think every neighborhood had a crazy cranky old guy.
We had Harry Lipshultz. I think back to how we used to antagonize that poor b*stard. :D Funny thing is, everyone tells me thats what I'm gonna be like when I'm an old fart!
