Lets say I break into your house

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my wife will do your yard work because she, too, is hard-working and honest - except for that breaking in part). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for, well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me

Now see, just about there, you would have 3 .40 slugs in your chest (one to the head for good measure), so you can skip the rest of that bull*****.......

I think many illegals do pay taxes now. I was reading an article where they get falsified documentation, and they pay taxes under that name (they have to). IIRC, they can't file tax returns, so theoretically, they would be paying more taxes than his/her peer at that job.

You don't carry a pistol if you think you will need a gun. You bring a rifle...and many friends with rifles.

This goes hand in hand with what Mr. Tabs posted about the demise of the middle class. Lou Dobbs for President.:D

for the vanishingly small minority of them that pay taxes, that is true.

If someone broke into my house, I would not ask them why they were there, or hear much of what they had to say, my ears would be ringin' from the smoking pistol in my hand. Bad analogy for me.

Not arguing one side or the other, but let's just say I come to your house uninvited. I stay in your garage and eat the food in the fridge in your garage. You tell me to leave, and I don't. Eventually I start to take over your living room. You tell me to leave, but I don't. Eventually I win over your wife and kids, and we hang out in your living room and eat the food out of the fridge in your kitchen.

Soon I start to hang out in the upstairs. You start to get pissed off and demand that I leave. I start to eat all the food in the fridge and start to claim parts of your house as mine. You and I have confrontations, and I still don't leave. Eventually, I send for my buddies to come to your house, and we all hang out in your house. My buddies start to take up parts of your house, and then folks find out they can come live in your house and you can't do anything about it. You eventually have to go live in the garage and take what food I give you and place in the fridge in the garage.

Soon I don't like the way you look or speak, so I make you speak and look like me. Eventually I move you into your yard and make you live in a tent, and you have to grow your own food eventhough you have no gardening or farming experience. Winter comes and you still haven't figured out how to grow food or keep food for the winter.

So now I throw scraps into the yard for you.

In the spring my friends and I want to use the most furtile part of you yard for my garden and flowers, so I make you and your family move to the least furtile part of the yard where it's just rocks, gravel and clay.

Eventually you start to plot against me and my buddies and all the other folks living in your house. You start to kill off some of my buddies hoping we will all leave. But we retailate by killing your kids.

At summer's end you mount a last stand with your wife. But with just the rakes and shovels we gave you to to grow food in the clay patch we moved you to, you can't do much. We shoot you and your wife and complete the take over of your house and yard.

If it's a vanishingly small minority, then that means an increasingly large majority are hiring people without their papers. I've yet to be hired without being asked for proof on the first day of employment, as the law requires same.

So who are these large majority employers?

lendaddy 10-22-2006 08:05 AM

Illegals with fake papers claim 12 deductions, so they pay very little tax.

cool_chick 10-22-2006 09:01 AM

CS, that's my question. Who are these large edit: majority employers? Why aren't they being arrested?

I was a waitress at one time. Even then I was required to produce papers.

And if the vast majority of illegals don't pay taxes because they're not asked for their papers (which are falsified, and taxes are drawn on that name), this means the vast majority of companies that hire them are (1) breaking the law and (2) evading their own taxes, which we all know how Uncle Sam feels about that.....

Do you have any sort of substantiation to show all those industries don't ask for papers, and that the vast majority of illegals and their companies are not paying any taxes? That's a lot of tax evasion you know.......

To Tobra:

I was just coming back to post the below, this is not my position to allow illegal people to work here. I don't dig that. It just doesn't make sense that with all our laws in place, and how Uncle Sam is diligent on checking on it's money, that the vast majority of illegals could avoid paying taxes.

Ok, I could buy that. This is at least a plausible situation.... Don't you think this would raise eyebrows though it most did this?

No, it wouldn't. The INS (or whatever they call it now) does not seek out illegals. If they walk in the door and ask to be arrested.......maybe, but they are not targets of enforcement. No one cares.

I'm not even talking about the INS. I'm talking about raising eyebrows with the IRS. A few, yes, but most?

The IRS is about the only government agency that actually is on the ball most the time....go figure LOL.

Plus, employers. I can't imagine most employers want to hire illegals and get in trouble if they're asking for papers....and for most to deduct such a large number....seems this would flag the employer too....

nostatic 10-22-2006 09:13 AM

You have to ask for papers (I-9 forms), it's the law. And the IRS isn't going to complain, illegals don't file returns.

Illegals don't file returns. But if most (isn't it estimated there are 2 million? I may be wrong...an accurate figure would be most welcome) were putting 12 deductions on their forms, and although illegals are all over the country, we know illegals tend to be in concentrated moreso in certain areas, wouldn't it be a flag for the IRS to validate? The 12 deductions is registered with the IRS.....

In a restaurant last week, I was musing over running for president. The girl cleaning our table said she'd vote for me, if she had papers....

cool_chick 10-22-2006 10:07 AM

LOL redbeard......

Only citizens of the US can vote. We're talking about taxes.

Honestly, I would welcome a scientifically-conducted study of this issue.....

I just feel if it were so easy to evade taxes, I would think most of us would be doing it....
