The Clock Denationalized (Temporarily)

An excellent couple of blog posts from Lew Rockwell. I agree wholeheartedly (natually ), and would add that we need to stop this US government idiocy right along with all the rest.

How wonderful for an early riser to have the former War Savings Time ended, at least for a while, and the clock returned to normal. This totalitarian intervention began in 1917 for Wilson's war. Thanks to popular opposition, Congress repealed it in 1919 over Woodrow's veto, but as you might guess, FDR brought it back for his war, and today, we think nothing of the leviathan state handing down its time edict twice a year.

Writes C.J. Watson: "Oh, Lew, I agree. It has been heavenly since the clock got turned back to real time again. I'm also an early riser. The past two days have seemed so long and full of hours to get things done in, although I guess it's just a placebo effect.

"Not to burst your bubble, but next year the govt has increased DST by an extra month, starting it in March instead of April. Argh!!!!!"http://blog.lewrockwell.com/

Have DST all year long and let people adjust their schedules. One of the funniest things I ever ran across was the farmer who complained that DST messed up the schedule of his cows for milking. Clocks are an artifact. The cows were just fine. It was the farmer who was screwed up!!

I agree. I'd rather have extra daylight in the evening. I don't really care if it's light when I wake up and go to work, but I'd rather have more daylight hours after work for running/getting dinner/sitting on the porch.

Like my old Granny used to say "All this extra daylight makes the curtains fade".

Yeah...here in AZ we have standard time all year just so it will cool off a bit before bedtime. We are like cockroaches here in the summer....We only come out after dark.
