We are all here(this bbs) because of the need to share our thoughts and test our reasoning (and sometimes make a wisecrack).

Dont think for a moment that you have not affected, effected (or infected) those who disagree with you. Reason and logic will always win in the end. Neither is a detriment to faith.

A well reasoned statement will always have its intended consequence. The recipient of said statement will agree(if that person does agree it will become part of their lexicon) or disagree. If they disagree, they will spend their time trying to undermind something they are afraid is true. You must be effected by something inorder to try to disprove it.

Then again, people like to argue and post troll-a-s comments to piss other people off.

Go out and smell some roses.

Good luck.

Bryan

Sorry, my bad

I should take the que from Joe and stay away from the religion threads like he is opting out of the political ones. Few (if any)people starting them are looking for enlightenment or an open minded discussion.

So are you really a homo?

Not that it really matters, but did you enjoy being a homo?

Tabs, for what it is worth, one of the things that got me hooked on this place was your posts.

Tabs, tabby, tabatola....

I believe everything we say and do has an impact on an atomic and astronomic level. Sort of like those movies where someone travels back in time and they displace one little thing and when the return to their original time the world is a completely different place. You never know when some silly thoughtless thing you do or say might make someones day... or when you are having a heated debate with someone who appears to be a thick as el Capitan that maybe some day in the future it will dawn on them that you had a valid point.

We all plant seeds... someone else may water them... and someone else may reap the harvest.

Aurel,
Make it a separate thread. There should be some good one's to come from that.

Tabs,
Don't want to minimize your angst. This is a normal part of growing up - see Piaget...

Now's the time to become a "Big Brother" (or something like it, jokes are obvious)

Tabs,
Time for a roadtrip. You need to blow the carbon out. Grab keys, a map, your favorite P-Car and just go wandering. angela

Well Tabby...life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer to the end you get, the faster it goes.

It's normal for a man of age like yourself to question his impact. However few of us will be remembered for anything at all. Welcome to the club.

I know this...yet it doesn't obviate the feelings...I am at the top of my game, I can pick out the crucial word in a conversation and know exactly what a person is all about. I can move or change one word at will in what I write and change the affect it will have on a reader. I also know that the words I speak have effect and affect. I also have clarity of vision, without ideological baggage. Call it ego that is pushing me out into the world.

Well, Tabs, you severely misjudged me when you made a statement to the effect that i don't like you once, nothing could be further from the truth. Sorry if my internet manners are such that I come off differently, and I mean that.

I would love to meet you when I drive through Vegas next week if you would grant me an audience, let me know.

We all should be at the top of our game at this point in life. By now the house is or should be mostly paid off, a fair amount of bux in the bank or stashed overseas, some nice "spoons" in the drawer and a good case of scotch in the cabinet waiting for a good time to enjoy it.

If you have a gift of being able to identify then direct things like this, then use it in a positive way to help people. That may very well be your legacy, how you were able to assist when you were at your peak.

After this time in your (our) lives its time to relax on a beach or desert or rain forest somewhere and enjoy the fruits of all that work you did when young, hopefully with a 911 and sweet young thing by your side.

Am jetting around Europe, the Far and Middle East until 20 December. If you want to take a few days off I have a flat in Dubai until then that is open if you can russle up a ticket heading this direction. The Russian ladies here are plenty cute and shopping is out of this world. Either one can keep a good man occupied for eons...

PS Damascus is really "in the belly of the beast" so not sure that you would want to come. After 4 days in Beirut and seeing the activity here from Syria and Iran, this place is even more-so a powder keg just waiting for a spark. Will be happy when we get out of Damascus and land in Amman Jordan, where at least we are not the enemy.

Been there, done that. The guy taking care of my house when I am out flying is in this boat. He was on top of the game and owned a wonderful house on a fly-in airport with a hangar large enough to house a DC-9.

Too long a story to go into here but his wife took him to the cleaners for something he did not do, and sold everything while he was in jail on a false wife beating charge. He got out, she had vanished and everything was gone.

Now he is 61 years old and almost homeless and cannot work due to disabilities. I have known him for 30+ years and its really sad to see. He has not given up but its really hard to start over at this point in life.

One wonders if this kind of mid life, zenith, confusion is a subconscious symptom of a fear of death - oblivion.

Wouldn´t religious belief save one from that? Give one the serenity and peace of mind that one is saved and everything is going to be alright?

It is in this position (I am there too, tabs), even I - your most devoted Darwini - have contemplated a research expedition into the depths of the religious state of mind.

I am an animal that unfortunately was cursed with the questionable gift of foreseeing my own demise.

I have been financially independent for a number of years, so that isn't something that I've had to strive for. Yet the way I was brought up instilled a healthy respect for money. I am such a twisted fk when it comes to money that the only thing I can spend any money on is an appreciating asset.
