California Referendums?
So aside from all the Congressional hoopla, has anyone heard whether or not the various referenda passed or not?
I suppose the more important question is, how many of them passed that won't be overturned in court a year from now like all the other ones that get passed?

Oh, we don't actually have to pay for all those bonds, we will just use our credit cards.
Idiots. Where are they going to come up with the $100+ billion it will cost to pay back all those bonds? They surely aren't going to stop spending money on the crack mamas and illegal aliens. I guess they will just have to raise taxes. Remember prop M? it was a hike in the sales tax to pay for rebuilding our freeways. Only problem is, it ended up in the general fund and the bleeding heart politicians in sacramento spent it on everything except what it was intended for. Now we vote to continue paying that tax (which will not do what it was supposed to do) and we vote for HUGE bond measures to pay foer what prop M was originally for. How do these people survive, they obviously don't have enough brains to breath on their own. |

I support bond measures more than I do new taxes.
With taxes, there's no incentive for responsible spending. With bond-backed initiatives (borrowed money) there is. It's like you or I going out and getting a personal loan, a mortgage, a car loan or buying something on credit. If you use the tool responsibly, it can work to your betterment. If you're a f*cktard and spend like a drunken sailor in a brothel, you'll pay the price for it in the form of slashed credit ratings, financial problems, etc. The biggest problem with it is that some of the bond measures (and their implications, if the money is not spent carefully and wisely) will outlast the tenure of the politicans administering it. That's the real problem. To solve this, I'd recommend the same sort of criminal penalties that a corporate officer might be subject to for wanton waste, disregard, irresponsible behavior and misuse of his charge of authority - even after being removed from that position or retiring years later. Hold the politicans accountable - criminally - for their actions in office and you'll see an improvement.

The problem I see with these bonds is that they borrow an extreme amount of money, promise the world and deliver maybe 25% of it.
f'ing lemmings...

When I read that the state was still going to have a $5 Billion deficit this year, I voted against every one except 1A which required the state to actually spend the gas tax on roads, like we voted for years ago. "Pass a bond, don't have an increase in taxes" didn't anyone take econ 101 in this state.
